Also right now the fan is direct and I have no idea if the car even has a tstat valve installed. The temperature guage still stays in the middle despite all of this roadside karigari, shouldn't the needle be lower than half? I aim to put it back to factory specs, but I am a little afraid of overheating.

You need to flush the cooling system.
If needle stays in middle even with direct fan it means system is clogged.

ok before any other change, correct the engine fan wiring to run on automatic.
temp gauge constant at middle means engine may have thermostat in system. Fan running on automatic will confirm.

if thermostat is absent and needle rise & drop when fan is on auto it transcribe for need of thermostat in system.

Should I use flush with this radiator, or purchase new radiator and then flush the whole system?

Yes it's the correct one.
Check the condition of radiator. If it can work after flush then no need to replacement.

Will do sir, thank you. Should I flush with the current radiator installed or a get a new radiator first. It's not in good nick, the upper tank has a lot of silicone along the edges. Will check the t-stat before flushing as well.

you can swap the upper tank from radiator cleaning guys. New radiator is last option, you may need in summer if coolant expansion tank malfunction, try to save some monies for now

Radiator brand is "Shams" so I am not so hopeful, but still I'll see. Hopefully it works out, otherwise will have to go for ND.

plenty of new chinese brand aluminum radiators are available in market at reasonable price, please do match the hose positions and resting slots and lower holding feet. If replacement is necessary.
