It was a completely foolish strategy to arrogantly launch the new Sportage at such exorbitantly high prices.

They needed a reality check.

To claim any major market share they must bring it down further. Nobody’s interested in buying a Sportage today.

The Sportage Alpha is pretty barebones IMO. At that price, there is some good competition.

The 5 seater Oshan X7 FutureSense might be more value. There's also the MG HS facelift as well which is a bit smaller but also cheaper and better equipped. You can also go fully electric at this price with the BYD Atto 3. There are several options now and likely more coming soon.

Oshan had the same price point versus old sportage - even then old sportage sold more. It’s not real competition for the new model

Also similarly MG has lower pricing than old sportage for a while and still it didn’t sell.

Not good to assume that they will sell against new model which looks better than the old one

It’s not marketing team. They tried to compete with Haval and go for a high margin low volume strategy.

Hyundai ruined their plans. Now with shortage price decreasing significantly there will be pressure on Corolla cross and civic to reduce prices

I remember reading posts here dealerships were demanding OWN money on Sportage L launch. Wouldn’t accept a pay order without OWN.

Does the 1 million PKR price difference between top of the line Tucson and Sportage make sense, given that Tucson appears (on paper) to be more feature-rich (AWD, HUD etc.)? Hearing other members' views would be nice

Exactly.... still not willing to see the reality... they are effed spot on. We should still not book a sportage with their present attitude.. These misguided bafoons also gave us a pre face lift in comparison to nishat who released facelift tucson.

People would have to stop paying for the H6 for that to happen. As long as they keep their sales, there is no reason for Sazgar to drop their margins (which I'm sure are very healthy).

Typically in China, manufacturers tend to drop prices when launching a facelift because the competition there is so severe so GWM and Sazgar have the opportunity to do that while saving face instead of getting embarrassed like KIA by being forced to drop after the fact.

Apparently, there are complaints that the dealerships are still not taking bookings for the new price and claiming that they're out of their allocated quota already for the "Temporary Adjustment".

If this is the case then dealership will destroy KIa brand. Lucky group needs to monitor situation closely
