too be honest all 99-2000 model civic r slower than 96-98 civic....i ve driven both.....btw there's very few 96 vti D16y6 which was originally imported from Japan by Atlas i think

I think 7th genertion Civic Is much improved than previous models...

We have both. 97 VTi Manual and 02 VTi Prosmatic.

97 is more comfortable. Feels a lot more powerful. I once raced a CL7---while I lost, the car almost kept up with it. Keep in mind that my car had 100000 km on the odo. The car still gives around 10 km/L.

The 02 works extremely hard even to beat a Suzuki Mehran. It gives around 8 km/L. The ride is bumpy. The only good thing it has over the 97 model is better road grip. But if you are moving at Mehran's pace, you don't need better road grip, do you?

If I could buy a brand new 6th gen Civic today, I would.

There's a reason why 7th is so bumpy. Thats because Honda Atlas raised the ride height to suit Pakistan roads, the suspension did not adopt well to it. If you ride the same car in other countries where its not so abnormally high you'll see that its as soft as the 6th (stiffer not bumpier). Get Japanese original springs, bring the height where it should be and you'll see the massive difference.

And the 7th is sluggish? Really? You must have a lemon then. I have 3 7th Civics (VTis) their mileage is 12km/l within the city with A/C and are pretty zippy (faster than the 06 since we've had lots of those too). The only complaint I had of mileage was with my EXi (7th generation); it actually gave less than my VTIs. Go figure.

Ull be surprised to know the outcome n the difference b/w Pk6 n d16y8... @Redbull Bhai Pk6 Produces not more than 90hp As well as D16y8 give u around 100 hp..! n as far as reliability is concerned D16y8(jap) is much more reliable than pk6... N for ur kind info stock d16s 0-100 is 9.2 sec.. Go n check for urself..! Stock D16y8 will eat shit outta pk6..

6th gen civic which was manufactured in pakistan has a pk6 block,in other words a clone of d16y8 which came in 96 civic vtis which were imported from japan....d16y8s are now old yet powerful and reliable than any pk6 blocks

can u please tell me how to Know Hp on dyno. When it comes to dyno then obviously one is talking abt WHP...

N nice to know that ur civic is doin 0-100 in 9.2 sec...! Even mine do faster than that but thats not the case. We r not talking abt our rides.. In general Its not possible to do it on Bone stock civic.

I liked the exterior of the 99-01 shape a lot with the multi reflector rear taillights. But overall, including the interior & comfort n all, the 03-06 is fantastic. If only it had some airbags & a new civics engine 1800cc, itd be totally awesome.
Once I can afford it, Ill InshaAllah get a 04/5 Civic and change the engine; cant wait !
