It goes both ways.

Either plan for moonless nights or around full moon. Both views are out of this world

Here is a link which gives some idea about timings of rising and setting of sun and moon. These are not correct always but good enough for guidance.

I couldn't sit for long in the jeep as cover was off so covered the remaining journey while standing

And in Swat Valley, it has a price ... fine grain dust all around specially if u r travelling behind another vehicle. We experienced this in Mahudand tour in 2007 and we were turned into 'dust ghosts' by the end of the day
