Welcome to Day 3
After hardly surviving the evening and night, Raheel saab woke up fully charged up and then went into all the camps to greet the whole team
I had slept around 4 hours so morning was a bit late.
Once, out of the camps .... 3 hrs long photo session started with small breaks. I did some landscapes, 360 degree panorama and some group shots. Then came the Chips break
Other carried on with breakfast while me and Rashid bhai went to explore the lake from higher grounds. We had a wonderful session covering the lake from different spots. Shahbaz later followed us but he kept his route while me and Rashid bhai carried on our session.
I decided at night to drop Spin Khwar Lake plan as getting back to Kalam in time was really doubtful due to current trek conditions. Instead, my plan was to stay at the lake till the sun is fully out so that we can give due coverage to this wonderful lake
The rest of the group had plans to leave early in the morning but due to last day's adventures, nobody was in a hurry. So, everyone enjoyed the early morning sunshine and breakfast while our porters took some rest in the camps.
Me and Rashid bhai came back to campsite around 9:30 a.m. and i did breakfast. Afterwards, we wrapped up the camps, kitchen stuff and finally whole team cleaned the campsite.
We started the return journey at 10:30 a.m.
Within one hour, we were at glaciers and this time, porters decided to go from lower side of the glaciers along with rocks. It turned out to be tougher but we crossed the area without any incident. I slipped at one of the glacier edges near a big rock and hurt by left shin bone. The ice was soft at the edge so i went down waist height near the rock but recovered quickly and resumed glacier crossing.
By the end of next hour, we crossed the landslide area as well. This time Bilal got hurt due to a falling stone which hit directly his knee at landslide area.
In 3:30 hrs, we were back at Laddu View Point and took an hour long lunch break. There we had a post trek posing session with very interesting portraits
We resumed the trek at 3 p.m. and crossed Izmis bridge after half hour.
We had given the message to our 5 returning group members to ask my jeep driver to come as far as possible near broken hotels. Once we got on the road, we immediately found him waiting for us. The poor soul was given the time of 7 a.m. to pick us and we were back at 4:15 p.m.
Now was issue to arrange another jeep. We saw a group moving on right side trek and their jeep was parked at same place while one of them had returned from midway. We requested him for a ride till Kalam as it was difficult to find a jeep at that time. He agreed and we hired that jeep for Rs. 2000. But water level was rising due to evening time and rivers and streams were already overflowing so all bridge crossings of Utror - Kalam road were overflowing with water and at each crossing there was something stuck near or on the crossing.
At last crossing before Kalam, a vehicle got stuck and was blocking the major part of the road while there was very acute crossing angle available and some vehicles were crossing from that limited space. Other jeep driver tried but then reversed and talked to another vehicle to take our team members till Kalam. They were afraid that by the time they will come back from Kalam water level may rise even more so our team members hopped on that loader carrying sand till Kalam while we reached hotel. Their loader stopped somewhere in Kalam bazar so we sent our jeep again to pick them and bring to hotel.
Team 3 left immediately except Imran Arif as they had to join offices next day. I wanted to leave also but my driver said it would be difficult to drive the whole way at night so better to leave in the morning. So, i stayed back for the night and decided to leave early morning.
We took showers and got fresh and then a campaign was launched to find the perfect restaurant for our dinner which can cater the needs of all the members. We started exploring Kalam bazar and finally decided on one place after going through many.
Raheel and Nauman ordered while Amer bhai gave some precise instructions how to cook the food ... lots of new things to learn for me
We had a wonderful and tasty dinner and it felt awesome after 2 days on the trek.
Afterwards, we had a round of ice cream and then tried to find some tea later on in the hotel. But tea was not available so we closed the books of account and then slept.
Night stay at Hotel Pameer in Kalam.
Day 4 has nothing much as i left early in the morning at 4:30 a.m. and reached Bahrain in 2 hours. I did breakfast there with my driver and then we explored the area on other side of a pedestrian bridge over Swat River. Then we resumed journey and reached Mingora in 4.5 hrs.
I took an AC coaster from there for Pindi and said goodbye to the driver. Reached Pindi in 4 hours and then took Niazi Express from Tarnol Mor for Lahore.
Reached home by 8 p.m. and this over adventurous journey came to an end
