On day 5 of our trip, we say good-bye to Nathiagali.
3 nights in Nathiagali are not nearly enough for us Karachiites. The mountains, the amazing cloud cover like heavy balls of cotton, light rain to heavy downpour, the chilly winds, enjoying winter in summer, the beautiful meadows and thick pine forests, an amazing collage of different shades of green and clear blue skies with scattered clouds, driving up and down the slopes, twists and turns, monkeys and more monkeys along the way...walking in the main Nathiagali bazaar looking at all kinds of people enjoying themselves and sitting under the magnificent night sky with stars shining so bright and close that they seem like they are at arm's length...What an experience. Shukar Alhamdolillah!
Today the sun was out in all its glory...the sky was a wonderful blue with scattered clouds something that we hardly see in Karachi. After 3 days of rains, the sunshine was like a parting gift. Wish we could have stayed another day. In sha Allah!
As our next stop is Islamabad, we had decided to leave by around 9ish. Before checking out, we went to have breakfast at the only place that is open at 7:30 am that serves the regularā¦parathas, chana, halwa and purees and of course chai. Enjoyed the drive down which took us roughly 2 hours but frankly I wasn't rushing it, as I was enjoying every bit of the journey.
In Islamabad, we stayed at a guesthouse in F7 as all our places of interest were close by. Our focus though was on visiting the food places that my family & I look forward to and enjoy whenever in Islamabad. We had traditional mutton karhai and chappli kebabs at a place called Zenos at G6. This place serves one of the best desi khana hands down...we savoured every bite.
After a very nice lunch, it was time to hit the closest mall for some shopping. Evening was reserved for traditional Afghani cuisine at Kabul Restaurant in F7. Another great place and a family favorite. What a satisfying experience, shukar Alhamdolillah!
Tomorrow, we begin our two-day journey home.
That's it for day 5.
