Commendable effort & excellent tour. Keeping posting such wonderful threads. I have got a question. Can one go on this tour on car if one wants to go only up to Gilgit, all the way from Kalash, Shandur, Phandar etc.
kalash and Shandur r not accessible by car. U can reach gilgit on any kind of car from KKH only
very nice trip and pics......superb....I am also planning a trip this summer to karimabad but plans were from naran....with family....But after watching your thread I am considering this route....Vehicle available is 1996 land cruiser....Single driver (me).....family and a servant.....concerned about road conditions,security etc...Thanks..
yes the current political/security condition is not good in gilgit region esp with family, and single driver on such a long route is also an issue. I suggest just Naran is ok for family. The road condition is very poor, although not at all a prob for ur LC but still its tiring for family.

Dear,It is amazing....I too been planing to travel this route.Kindly tell me what kind of vehicle is needed which can travel on these roads?And esp. what is law and order situation? Any Taliban etc.?Specifically Can I travel on Mehran or Cultus?Thanks:
4x4 is needed for Kalash and Shandur, no taliban issue at all in those areas
