NOW YOU CAN VIEW PUNJ PEER TOP FRON THIS VILLAGE

FINALLY REACHED PUNJ PEER TOP

AN INTERESTING THING VIEWED AT THIS PLACE IS THAT THERE IS NO SHRINE AT THE TOP.

YOU CAN SEE A "CHABUTRA" APPROX 5X6 FT AND NEXT TO IT IS A MOSQUE. NO GRAVE OF PUNJ PEER.....???????????????????????????????

SO WE WERE ANXIOUS TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE PLACE AND FOR THAT WE CONTACTED ANOTHER GROUP OF "ZAIREEN" WHO CAME FROM LEHTRAR.....

I WILL TELL YOU THE MYTH ABOUT THIS PLACE IN MY UP COMMING POSTING

MANGLA DAM IS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THESE MOUNTAIN AS SHOWN BELOW

I hiked these areas quite extensively in the late 80s. There were many more trees then compared to now, but the area retains its beauty reasonably well still.

Dear Chang. thank you for liking the thread.
infact i use to be a silent viewer of PW and after seeing 2 threads posted on the same area and seeing the pics, i decided to visit this place.

initially i went through lehtrar road till danoi and from there i got to know that the jeep track is no more there due to last year heavy reains and land slide.

i also got to know from danoi that the route from kahota is open so i decided to visit through kahota.

as per my experience, this place is not known to most of the people that the reason that you will find peace and natural beauty as it is.

moreover the people of this area (Nar - Punj Peer) are very hospitable.

as per local people the altitude of Punj Peer is close to Muree as snow falls in winter. unfortunately i didnt had GPRS to check the exact altitude.

thank you for liking the thread.

You can use a normal car with good road clearance till base of Punj Peer. the last track of approx 1.5 km is pure jeep track with good experience of off roading as the way is a bit narrow and tricky. this track will lead you to foret rest house which is under control of army.
there you can park your jeep and track for 10 min to punj peer.

we had suzuki jimny model 2010 with us. crossed various obsticles but the last one was a bit tricky. from there we returned back and used another track and reached the top by foot, as i didnt want to take risk coz we didnt had any backup vehicle in case of breakdown.

First of all thank you for your comments. secondly, jimny is my officially allocated jeep and cannot sell:(.

as far as its performance is concerned, with 1300cc engine its performance on climbing hills and mountains in normal conditions is excellent as you can feel 1300cc power in a compact body.

moreover, you can also feel comfortable with its 4x4 capabilities as an above average off roading machine(not extereme off roading)

as a family car, if you have small family like couple and kids not above age of 10-12 years it is ok.

i hope all your answers are addressed. i you would like to know more, you are wellcome.

Here we go with some more pics.

leaving punj peer shrine and moving towards forest rest house which is 10-15 min hiking. rest house is under control of army.

as we were not aware of the track so requested a kid who was also a visitor of punj peer (a regular visitor)

this is the entrance of rest house.

you can also see the track initially we took but returned due to road conditions.

there we decided to go back through this track. you can also find pictures of this track in my posts below.

got to know from this kid that when Musharraf toppled the govt of Nawaz Sharif, he was brought to this place and locked up here for quite some time.

well overall it seems to be a nice area.i have been till dhanoi but missed Punj pir. i will go there soon inshallah. thanx 4 ur advice. actually i am after a jimny like a mad dog but the new jimny is now touched 20lac so its out of question and i cannot find any good second hand jimny......

I am thinking about selling my Jimny. I've recently upgraded to the new Hilux. Nevertheless this Jimny is used only as a second car for short trips mostly. This is one of the first few Jimny's imported by paksuzuki. Only 25000kms on the clock but regularly serviced. never used off road. Even tires are original without even a single puncture. pm me if you are really interested. I care for my cars like I care for my family members. Selling Jimny would still be a difficult decision.
