@AdilFJ40
This is by far the best (in a league of its own and only true) restoration that I have seen on this forum. In my opinion, it is absolutely tremendous. While there are those who would happily cut/chop/elongate/v8 their J40s, this I believe is an exemplary culmination of the purist enthusiast's mind set. To each his own, but I think it takes alot more nerve and alot more 'class' to properly restore these things instead of augmenting them into 'khanabadosh/rall gadd' mutants, in workshops where torque tools are alient technology. Like some one else said, I am sure if you can manage originally upholstered seats,flooring and do the correct coloring (blue blocks are on H, 2H, 12H-T, some 3B and13B-T diesels) on the engine and put in original J40 rims, I can swear by this being taken up by Toyota as a museum piece. Bravo!
On a side note, I read that you are contemplating an efi transplant. Brother, its your (father's) accomplishment that you have brought it to this shape so you deserve to do with it as you please. But take it from another fauji (ka bacha), the Colonel drove his 'aik number' with the same twin barrell throat that it has now back in his days, let it be time travel for him. My motivation behind saying this is what my father says to me when I play wise with him regarding our best friend (FJ70 RVKR)," kaku tumhari naak behti thi jab baba RKR chalaya karta tha, mujhay pata hai". Some might say that this is melodramatism, but keeping in mind the toil the Colonel undertook, let this be his 'thing'.
A salute for the Colonel and prayers for you both, may God give you a long life and the good sense to live it.
