Next time you get stuck in traffic, note the clutch performance deteriorating quickly. It goes to a level where you simply want to burn the bike.

It does well in other bikes, say a CD70, but fails to keep up in a CG125.

Kixx Ultra has done a far better job in this department, as compared to Havoline and that's why I prefer it over Havoline.

Or maybe I am spoiled by Liquimoly. I have changed my last oil at 1310km (@42121 odo reading) and even after that kind of abuse, clutch never gave up. Not once. But I have started to dislike Liquimoly because it makes the bike feel heavier. Maybe in future, I will try the 10W-40 from Liquimoly and see how that performs, especially in this burning hot weather.

Ironically, at recent oil change, I have again put Havoline lol [emoji14] but that was cost saving; my father brings a gallon of 4 Liters for other bikes and I used from it. I know I am going to change it after 600 or 700kms. After that, it only gets Annoying.

Kixx Gold SL 10w-40 is a best oil for CG125.

Kixx's 20W-50 is also pretty good, considering it costs just Rs.460-470. The Kixx Gold only comes in a 4Liter packing here, which is why I am reluctant to buy it.

The Liquimly 10W-40 costs nearly 1000 Rupees :S

Anyway, the recommended engine oil for CG125 is rated at 20W-40, so I putting in 10W-40 makes sense. Also, the engine feels so ... 'free' when you put a thinner oil in it, revs comfortably, without feeling heavier. The exhaust note also changes to more sharp tone.

Exactly what i feel. Changed the oil 2 days ago and now engine is performing very well and noises are almost dead, clutch is very smooth. The price of 1ltr bottle is Rs. 480/ here.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Actually I haven't come across heavy slow traffic much as l am living in wah but I am annoyed by the ghr ghr sound on acceleration when the engine gets warm. My bike is not in top notch condition. May be it needs some gear change. I will try kixx next time.

If there is no oil leak or smoke, why do you think its engine is dying? Secondly, who suggested you to go for a engine overhaul?

The power is supposed to go down slowly (because of wear and tear) but if its still original, keep it original. If there are vibrations and less power, then the problem must be related to engine tunings only.

If a mechanic has suggested you for a engine overhaul, solely because its losing power, then he must be trying to make money off of you.

@abobobilly I haven't consulted a mech but I am using it from last 15 years and I know its condition.

While tune up once mech suggested to change rockers. but he also mentioned new ones are poor in quality so go for wielding. But I never did this

I have rebuild my 2010 model's engine two times (once partial top end rebuild by boring, and the 2nd time, complete top end rebuild). I am telling you from experience, if you can avoid going for the new parts, then just avoid. New spare parts are so sh*t in quality that it will barely last you one or two years, before asking again for an overhaul. 2000 model has some astonishing quality parts that its able to last you this long.

Vibrations: I assume you mean its just making more sound. Then it must be tappets now having more clearance, which won't sit well. Which also explains the power loss, due to incorrect adjustment of valve clearance. Visit a machinist (go to McLeod Road), get the Rockers base plate opened up and get it welded. Its a 10-15 minutes job, and will cost less than Rs.500.

Since the overhaul, i have been doing the complete tuneups myself. Tappet adjustment, Oil Change and Filter clearing etc ... i have bid farewell to mechanics long ago. I even do my own Carb adjustments, and even though i don't get them quite right ... i am mentally more satisfied than before.
