The tip of the Malay plug is a bit darker than ideal...... the air fuel mixture is a bit off.....a teeny bit richer than what it should have been.

The 2 pictures above that shows a very oily and wet carbon on the spark plug. A very common diagnosis is that you have worn piston rings but I do not think that is what it is..... bcoz you might have noticed smoke from the exhaust. It happens sometimes when you over due the service interval. Nothing to worry about. If it happens again than maybe its an engine issue and currently the state of the Malay plug suggest that other the mixture setting everything is fine....... your engine isnt over heating. No detonation....no pre-ignition, no nasty deposits...... so all in all good news.

FYI...... yes lean air fuel mixture can and will short the plug on longer usage.

I have found my bike to response best when it has a plug in this shape/colour @r1 its a little above the ideal zone ... a little rich (jisay aam zubaan men "halki aaanch ka tarka kehty hain" ) off-course one do not get the best feul average but one does get a bullet CG acceleration.

Yes I used to have short plugs when I used bike on leaned setting as it used to over heat and bake the plug... thats when I was in college in 2002.... gud old times. at that time i didnt knew why I get short plugs right after a month or even earlier but I kept my mechnic to lean it as much as possible becuase feul k paisy bachanay hotay thay.. lekin wo kharch plug pora ker deta tha

Thank you Sir, no bike is not giving smoke and after fuel mixture settings now bike is working fine.
It has been 4 days now i have changed the plug so far no back fire and plug short issue.

Well anyway now the bike is back in action again. Actually i have been in Muree and Swat in last 2 months and there mechanics raped my CG lol.. But thanks to some dear friends now problems are gone.

I think CG is the most less hassle bike if we compare it to GS/RP/Dlx there parts and maintaince both are expensive ... CG tu bechari kuch bhi nahi mangti or chalti rehti hai ... ?

Yes no doubt CG is not always so heavy on pocket. Just full the tank and enjoy long riding
Am satisfied with my ride just want front disc setup.
Yesterday called DYL Dealer to inquire the price of YD 125 Sport complete front. He said that will tell me within 2 days.

Not sure about the rims though. Remember when i say AHL covers sh*t rims with better quality chrome ... fooling people into thinking that these are very good quality rims. Well, THEY ARE NOT. @vickytulla, also goes for you bro :)). I have the exact same ones that r1 has, by SOMO ... with the only difference being ... my rim doesn't state the year they are manufactured in i.e. 2007 (mine are actually 2008-09 ones).

Or you just want to change them for more grip? Why not try to deflate them a little first? Because I suspect the rear tyre is currently at more than 45psi, which would be fine IF you do pillion riding more often. Otherwise, i always keep rear tyre at 38psi, which also works fine pillion riding. (but increases the risk of puncture, especially if your rims are accumulating rust from the inside) ... and front tyre not more than 25psi.

What is the current tyre pressure in your bike's tyres?

If you are still not convinced and want to change them anyway ... well, i think you should aim for slightly wider tyres. (I myself have been thinking of getting wider tyres but current tyres are far from weary.) Like 2.75-18 for the front (stock is 2.50-18) and 3.25-17 for the rear (stock is 3.00-17). Stock size for both Tubes and Rims will work just fine. What do you think?

Front tyre is just like brand new, no puncture since i bought this bike.
The rear tyre seems very fine but has no grip on road. Works good off road but sucks on highways.
Well i have done some very hardcore off roading on my bike and never had problem in rims and its alignment. What is the difference between 2007 and 2008-09 SOMO Rims?

Current rear tyre pressure is 40psi and front 28psi. The problem with my city is there is no other tyre brand is available except Servis/Panther. Do you think wider tyre will resolve the braking issue?

SOMO rims are the worst when it comes to quality,they are no different from their chonda compatriots.I have somo rims in CD-100 and believe me every 2-3 months they need to be aligned and reshaped.

I am seriously considering installing araya-J rims in my CD.But i would like to wait and learn from your experience @abobobilly

@r1 ! I am gonna be honest. If you want to do sharp turns on your bike on highway, then thats a bad idea. Tyres are not the only one to make road-grip. It depends on the chassis design as much as it does on performance of shock-absorbers. So the reason why this bike will never be able to have PROPER road grip, should be clear by now.

However, it can be improved, by:
- Installing wider tyres: It'll increase the straight line stability of your bike. Most people only install "Rear" wider tyre which helps but disconnects the behavior of front and back wheel (most noticeable during sharp turns on high speeds) ... so front tyre should also be changed for both tyres to work together.

• Better quality tyres: The reason why people like Panther/Servise tyres is because they are cheap, and they are very long lasting. The downsides of 'long-lasting' is that their rubber is hard, which means less road-grip. Less road-grip means high fuel mileage and less tyre wear. Less Tyre wear means cost-saving and long-life. Ever wondered how these tyres can sometimes manage to last as much as 40,000 kms (not kidding). I for one, despite being happy with this thing ... is not really satisfied, which means i am also aiming for better quality (and tubeless) tyre. Have a look at the tyre mentioned on previous pages, that Michllen Street/Sport whatever it was. What i don't know ... is its availability and price in Pakistan ... and if installing a Tubeless Tyre will need a Rim Changing as well.

• Reducing Tyre Pressure: It may sound ridiculous but its true. Even 1 or 2psi will make a lot of difference. Your current tyre pressure on rear is 40psi ... if you don't do pillion riding, then reduce it to 35, otherwise 38. Keep the front at 25psi at all times, not a single psi more (unless you do pillion). Remember, when i say pillion riding ... i am implying that you "always" ride with pillion. Another thing to note ... to inflate your tyres, if you use shops which deal with "Car Tyres" then make sure you DO NOT use their "Big Pressure Guage". It'll show you less value, when the actual value is significantly higher (because of high-pressure compartments they use, to faster fill-up car tyres). Use the smaller guage, like this one:
  

I have been through these experiences so i completely understand your agony about Road Grip. High-Speed breaking is a MAJOR problem with this bike, and one of the reasons why i never over-speed on it, unless i am on an open road. I keep almost all the pressure on front breaking, with very little on the rear. Also, i have learned to use the "Engine Braking" in co-ordination with other Brakes, to have more effective breaking. But that needs me to keep mind 100% focused at all times, to be able to do that in Emergency situations (though not once did i succeed in that lol :P)

@r1! To answer your question about the difference between 2007 and later SOMO rims. Its the quality. 2007 bikes were still a much better built than the latter ones. It was after 2008-09 that it completely went downhill. Only its "chrome" is of good quality, which fools people into thinking that Rims are of good quality too. But they are just not.

Wait till tomorrow morning. I'll post some pictures of my new Rims and old ones, and also the wires used inside rims (whatever you call them).

@devilskreed! I hear ya brother. Btw, you can go ahead and install the Araya J or Union Rims because even if they are not of very best quality ... they are very much better than the stock ones. I can attest to this fact.

Its not GS150's 90/90/18 or 3.50-18 bro. Its 3.00-17 ... and 30psi is TOO LOW for it.

Actually you are right. 30 will work fine too, because rear chain cover of CG125 states 28psi (cold tyre pressure) for "Driver Only". I keep it slightly higher than that because you never know when you need pillion riding (suppose a police man asks you for a lift, would you tell him that your tyre pressure is low? LOL :P)
