@mysaadi
I can understand your concern. I'll be REALLY frank with you. I would strongly suggest you not to go for ACCA as you are not the kind who would study themselves. ACCA requires a great deal of self study. Many students who get A's in A Levels fail ACCA papers many times or pass just like the others. But then again, many who did not get good results in A Levels pass ACCA papers in first attempts and with good marks. Obviously because they study hard.
Many students get into ACCA because the entry requirements are not stringent, but after wasting a year they realise ACCA really lives up to it's name of being a professional qulification. The only reason for such relaxed admission requirements is so that more students get registered and pay their initial subscription as ACCA is a non-profit organisation.
My advice to you is to go for BBA as you will be able to evaluate yourself after every presentation, group discussion, test, mock and exam. Also, if you plan on becoming a CA in Pakistan or going abroad to study (apart from UK) especially Canada or USA, then i would STRONGLY suggest you not to go for ACCA as those countries have a strict policy of accepting students with an Undergraduate degree (Bachelors) for Graduate studies (Masters). Professional qualifications are not a substitute to bachelors in fulfilling the educational requirements.
Although, ACCA and Oxford Brookes University have been working closely together and OBU has offered a degree specifically to ACCA students which is conferred upon the students after successful completion of a research and analysis project submitted to the university. This degree is called BSc(Hons) in Applied Accounting. Many universities in UK accept this degree for Masters but in the rest of the world, it depends on the Universities.
If you plan to go to Middle East, UAE, then ACCA might be a good option for you. But then again, it requires a lot of self study.
Make a wise choice.
And just for the record, the real classes start from after the result comes out which is mid Aug/Feb and end by mid Nov/May. In between there are many strikes, teachers taking the day off etc. Effectively, the classes last for 3 months only. Do you really think they teach the whole course in that?
