Before the car used to rattle and crash over bumps. The engine and transmission mounts were also weak so I replaced them all. That improved the rattling and vibrations but over bumps she still bounced and steering vibrated. I than thought it was maybe front tyres were going bad but as a precaution had the shocks checked. They were weak but still alive, which i misconstrued again as bad mounts and tyres. After replacing everything and people telling me that reason was the low profile tyres I was running, I decided to just bite the bullet and replace the shocks.
The change in behaviour now is a revelation. The car is dead straight and smooth now. Even my brakes have become more effective. Problem with these gas shocks is that even if weak, on such a front heavy car like the accord, it just magnifies everything. If I had 16inch rims with tyres with a bigger sidewall, these weak shocks would have gone for another 1-2 years, but with 17's and thin profile tyres, the weak shocks just didn't give any support and the car jittered and crashed over every bump with heavy vibration in steering wheel
