Any ideas where ICTOs are sent once they are selected? i mean is it engineering corps or in signals?
also if anyone has info, can a mechanical or mechatronics engineering apply for ICTO?

since most of jobs require experience, how do u guide a fresh graduate in his job hunt? without pawa or rishwat, is it even possible to get a good job? am not even in the top lot in terms of gpa

totally understand your question. no one graduate with 10 year experince. 13 years ago, I was fresh too when i did my BE from NUST. Started working at 6000 a month on a bridge project and then slowly and steady you excel. Once you are in profession, then it all depends on your skills. I have seen position holders even having difficult time in practicaly in their profession. I would suggest just take anything which is directly related to your profession. dont expect a huge $$ at start. Learn and dont think someone will teach you. keep on trying and if possible get into Masters in your field may be part time.
I will not say Pakistan is bad place to work, but one have to see his future as well, try applying overseas, NZ, Austrlia are very big. No canada. After few years these wil be saturated as well. This is the right time to move and make a decision.

to be honest i dont expect expect lots of money, even a 10k starting pay would do great as long as i know i am in a good place. All i want is to join any good firm/organization, get at least 2-3 years experience then move on the way i want. I know it gets better and better but problem still remains the same i.e how to get your first job as a freshie. Competition itna zada hai toppers, pawa waly, aur rishwat walon k bad kuch bachta hi nahi :S

Thats what my father always say that dont expect big $$$ in the start. Just join and learn. When you'll learn, you'll excell. Once you are in the game then you are in a better position to negotiate about your salary and position.

All companies by law have to induct some specific number of people as fresh interns. I remember someone told me that some companies get tax break by showing they inducted interns but in reality they didn't.
If you are in engineering field ( telecom, mech, civil, elect) I can tell you, if you do some effort by going personally to facilities , you might get some sort of help. I know it seems difficult but by sitting " tang per tang rakh kar". Will not be useful either. Just keep on dumping your resumes. If there is a facility close by which you think you can learn, lets talk to someone there and start working without any money or incentive. That waY you will at least learn something and not waste time on pakwheels.

Good initiative.
as far i go for hiring the problem is with our youth, i admit this here in our country there is a huge scene of rishwat and pawa every where but our youth expect to much in start, any hons graduate or mba think company should give me 40 to 50k at start a good sedan and when the turn came of work output bus itna kaam krna pary jitna govt job man krna parta hy & nobody want to learn anything in work coz they dont want to stay in 1 org, i know someone in my circle who start his career as chartered accountant in 90's & he is still giving his services to that or sine 23 years and now he is getting 2000k /month.

Note: these are my personal observation, it did'nt means to hurt or discourage any body.

yea i am a fresh engineering graduate of electronic engineering and after spending about 5 months i came to know that e-mailing CV's doesn't matters at all.. i will have to act upon your suggestion by visiting firms and asking for internship.. thanx btw..

Roam around and visit all areas pertaining to your field. If they offer paid internship or some starting job. Wonderful or ask them that you are ready to work for learning. Be nice as I used to be.. Word hard and remain organized even if they don't pay you.. Kabhi sharam ae gi unko.. Don't go to small outfits. Medium size industry or something like that..
