Great thread, i really appreciate your effort :). I just had one question in mind, i.e. people who SELL these locally used cars need to upgrade to SOMETHING right? (people going abroad etc will be a minority of all sales). If they pay insane amounts of money for a new car, it obviously means they will charge more for the vehicle that they're selling (hence price not being so attractive after all). Also i guess people are sticking to what they have in these dire economic times so getting a good second hand car might be difficult in the first place

Also, the recent reduction in the duty depreciation rate will have a very very harmful impact on car prices (local+imported). I feel that the 'own' days are coming back, even if they dont second hand car prices will not be too far away from their new counterparts.

I have based all of this on my personal assumptions and observation of the car market in general

Its a great thread that you've come up with, n i hope this leaves a little impact on way we buy cars..Its very true that the local car mafia is now gotten on it our nerves..They tend to increas price as if its nuthing, but then again its not only their fault as they say two sides of a coin we are equally responsible of the increase. If from day one we staarted looking for alernates (as ur thread) we wouldnt had faced that much of the increase.

Newyz..i see this thread quite of a helping haad in buyin alternate vehicals, with luxry & style.. the only thin i fear now is thread o parhne ke baad log alternate vehicals ki be rice na increaase karedein.. //

ohh btw.. my contribution to this thread would be Terios (not Terios Kid) & Cami as i use to have & really love em i suggest these two tho are the same..

A suggestion.

the whole idea is to stop ppl from buying new cars... right?..
so instead of putting price ranges like 5lak.. 8-11 lak.. etc..
lets put alternative to a new car..
i mean like this

Brand new Mehran=2002 Honda City, 1996-2002 Honda civic, 1998-2001 Xli, etc

Brand new Cultus=2006-2008 Honda City, 2002-2004 Honda civic.. 2002-2006 Crola.. etc

same goes for other ther cars.. which sell i large number Brand new

that would make a bigges difference i believe on a Buyer.

Just realizewd the Daihatsu Mira and Boon were not included in the under 5 lakhs range please add them too.
The boon is also known as toyota passo and i think somebody has mentioned it before me.
It's very spacious and the drive is also pretty smooth.Fuel economy is also great!
Though now the boon maybe in the above 5 lakhs range.

Very good thread and of interest to many members. But don't u think when one man sells his old car he has to buy the other one in most of the cases. Many of them are interested in buying new cars.

The old cars will not circulate for much time and there has to be a certain input of new cars.

Although buying the local made cars is more beneficial to the PYARA pakistan but the things need to be balanced like price, quality.

In my opinion alternative to local made cars is to buy the imported new or used cars unless the locals think to reduce price and improve quality.
So If we can put information about imported cars alternatives to local cars along with price comparison, many of us will benefit from it.
