old fashioned way, top the tank(no of ltrs) and divide with mileage covered

secondly a daewoo bus travels faster then this on motorway. 100km/hr on motorway is sheer TORTURE!

Agree with hash, these meters aren't based on actual consumption rather some electronic feedback from the accelerator or something and they aren't really that accurate.

I'm not saying that such practices don't work, i'm saying that they work but not to a very large extent

And travelling at 100 isn't exactly the best thing in the world but put on a slow track and enjoy the ride

I have an Altis 2010 Cruisetronic SR. Driving it around 100-105 kmph between Peshawar and Islamabad its giving me around 15.5 km per liter on motorway and overall 14.2 km per liter in the overall trip (I am taking out the in city 40, 50 km in this trip). The total distance travelled is around 400km coming and going.

i have 2006 altis it gives 18 km / ltr with the speed of 100-115 on moterway and in city it gives about 14 km
xli 2009 gives 17 km to 19 km on highway
gli 2010 gives the same 17 to 19 km

and guyz for ur information 2006 altis gives 18 km 2006 xli gives 15 km on highway vvti engines are most fuel eficient engines leave hybrid aside we are talking aboyt fuel engine and in electic throtle fuel avarage depends on ur foot if u put full presure on throtle u ll get 8 km on higway and 6 km in city

I have an auto 2010 altis. It gives around 9 km/l in Lahore (and it is not driven economically by any means!), which I think is fair for a 1.8L car.

I remember it gave 12-14 km/l coming o the national highway. So 17km/l is believable, but a bit hard to achieve for people who like to drive fast.

I can quite believe this average. I have a 2006 GLi, and after reading the hypermiling techniques by a member of PW with a Honda City, I implemented them on my car. My car has CNG kit installed and I have tested the hypermiling technique on CNG only. Previously within city my GLi used to give me 120 - 125 km in one gas tank of 55kg. For the last two tanks (driven using hypermiling techniques) I have managed to achieve 176 km first time, and 184 km second time. So Altis at 17.6 kmpl with hypermiling techniques? Very very believable.

Btw, the PW member who posted the hypermiling techniques thread has 2010 City and his car gives an average of 26 kmpl.

Oh nice to see a member benefited from hypermiling techniques .I think the posters mileage is quite believable here its unbelievable for Honda owners because Civic cant give so much high mileage as ITs consumes much fuel.

Ofcourse thats the reason.

Civic 1.8 at 110 kph in 5th gear gives the best fuel average [i.e. 16 km/l] after that the fuel consumption starts to multiply and it is dragged down to 15 or 14 at the speeds of 130-150 kph.

Where as your Gli is 1300cc so you should be doing around 80kph in 5th gear to achieve +16 km/l mark.

How much is your car driven? My 2007 Oriel used to give 16 REGULARLY on M2 and it was 83K driven when i sold it this year. Where as my 2010 one has yet to achieve 16 mark.
