You are talking about two different figures. Altis is 171 NM, and Civic is 128 LB/FT... convert 128 LB/FT to NM you get 175 NM.
On paper, Civic is faster by every definition.
Coming to the ground reality:
Civic weighs 2767 lbs.
Altis weighs 2390 lbs.
Dividing each by their power output:
2767/140=19.76 HP/pound
2390/134=17.83 HP/pound
Now for those of you who don't know math, what this simply means is that the Altis will accelerate faster because it weighs much less and needs LESS horsepower PER pound to move the car.
So all those einstiens who think its a miracle that the "Altis is supposedly fast", please wake up and smell the coffee... its just a difference of power to weight ratio.

Whats so special about the Altis? Honestly it drives like crap, and I'm talking about the new and the old one. It has the handling potential of a boat. Corner in at a fast speed and you'll be kissing the clouds shortly. And really the only people who think its good are total morons who haven't driven a car with a displacement more than 1.8 liters.
So please get real and stop comparing crappy econoboxes in terms of power.
