you certainly haven't watched the old tg. Evans shouting and matt whos main gig is not cars is big NO for me. Old threes were dedicated and had excellent chemistry with each other. That was British humour at its best. Now Top Gear is just like top gear usa.

It's better on principle ... the fact that they disqualified Jeremy Clarkson because he got physical with someone is the grounds for the new Top gear to be better (which it is).

Secondly I'm not a big fan of Chris Evans but maybe in time we will grow to like him. Even if we don't it's still Top Gear and millions of people will still watch it and what you and I think about Chris or Matt or that weird cringe worthy German chick doesn't really matter.

Also, you don't know for certain if the laughs were added or not.

On the Plus side ...We have Two Top Gears (technically) to watch now and that surely can't be a bad thing.

I completely agree with you regarding principle,BBC was right to sack him,there's no two ways about it.Not realy impressed by new top gear team though.Everyone is trying too hard and like someone said it's missing British humour.
Clarkson has paid for his mistakes and I'm actually looking forward to his new show but let's be honest it won't be as big as top gear.

Just finished watching the second episode twice now and I must say I absolutely loved it ..didn't even feel like anything was missing.

Chris Evans for me atleast has completely redeemed himself with the McLaren bit in the start of this episode. It was really remarkable how he kinda brought life back into the new line cars which frankly were getting a bit hard to follow up on with how many models they had been seeming to release every 6 months lol.

And what Jenson Button did to the car on the track was a treat to watch.

Another thing I realised while watching this episode was how much younger Chris Evans and the entire new cast of Top Gear is. Jeremy Clarkson was old and so was Captain slow tbh.

Matt Le Blanc was brilliant as always and this second episode has made me fall in love with Top Gear all over again

10/10 from me !

I appreciate your positive attitude to the new show, but so far you're the only person I've seen who actually liked it.

I watched the first 2 episodes as well, not worth my time. Matt LeBlanc is the only fun part, he is a funny person especially since he was a favorite of mine on the show Friends, but anyway, he seems like he knows what he's doing.

Chris Evans on the other hand, a stubborn Ginger twit who is full of himself and claims that he didn't want to work with Matt, because BBC forced them to work together. He isn't even worth working near Matt let alone on the same show.
He has no idea what he's doing, his jokes aren't funny and his annoying voice makes it hard to take him seriously. I didn't want to watch the rest of the episode, but I made myself sit through both of them. Not going to bother with the 3rd one.

Also, I don't know if this is true or not, but I read that Chris Evans felt sick or something after riding in an Audi R8 driven by a woman (No offence to lady drivers lol).
You were saying something about Clarkson and May being too old? You don't see them getting nauseous in an Audi.

Chris is an overly sensitive little girl and is not fit to be a presenter for Top Gear, I honestly hope that the ratings take a nosedive and the show gets cancelled to avoid further embarrassment to BBC.

Lastly, don't mean to be biased here, but Jeremy Clarkson trying to put a cardboard box together was genuinely more enjoyable than the new Top Gear was. Hearing May and Hammond tease Clarkson while he was making the box just reminded me of when they used to make fun of him on the show. Those 3 just go so well together.

Can't wait for the new show.

Let me break it up for everyone.
New Top Gear : Just another car programme with occasional forced comedy whose presenters main gig was never realted to cars till yet. It is of the same level as fifth gear or the Top Gear USA. Or even worse.

Old Top Gear: Three best friends and genuine petrolheads throwing hilarious jokes while being ultra enthusiastic about cars.
No one wants to see a boring just another car show. He/she would rather read the specs and be well of.

As far as the debate of new vs old is concerned.

The old one was perfect, the bond between Jerermy, James & Richard was flawless hence it worked. The humour and comedy was just magnificent. I have watched their episodes more times then I can mention and still they put a smile on my face and many people here I believe. It was just pure and uncomplicated. You cannot get enough of it.

New however. They just got the wrong set of people for the job. They have no chemistry between them and frankly they know not so much about cars. As of now they have lost millions of loyal viewers and in a fairly distant future I don't see them rising. Time will tell better I suppose.

For now lets focus on the new show. I presume there will be torrents of the new show? OR some other way perhaps ?

Saw the first two episodes of the 23rd season of TG with an open mind and the conclusion I came to was that Chris Evans and the entire cast in general was trying a bit too hard. It did not seem natural and there is absolutely no chemistry between the hosts.
They have not completely revamped it and every time they do the celebrity section, you can feel like they are still figuring out what to do with the show but in an effort to premier it before the Grand Tour they came up with a half cooked effort. Matt LeBlanc alone would not be enough to pull this off and I have a fleeting suspicion that a fate like that of Fifth Gear awaits Top Gear.
But lets see what happens

The problem this new Top Gear faces is a huge one as they have some very big shoes to fill. A majority of us has been watching Clarkson and the rest for some time now and they have become a part of our automobile consciousness. Trying to replace them is like trying to replace your children or your pet, its unimaginable.
I also believe that they were unique in the sense that they viewed the rest of the world from a predominantly British point of view, this newer global approach may gain them a diverse audience but not necessarily a loyal one. Having a point of view of your own is important, people may agree to it or they may not but they will respect you for having it.
Lastly, as a die hard TG fan, I do feel that Chris Evans stabbed the trio in the back when he jumped on the opportunity to take on this show. There is illegal, then there is unethical and lastly there is a gentlemen's agreement. The last is the most important according to me and it was this breach of trust that I did not particularly enjoy.
