Dear Kashraf. It is a Sony and yes it plays MP3, and I bought it because I wanted to play all my MP3 stuff while on road. I purchaed it last year and it is still running without a single problem/Skip. I have burnt Mp3 CDs myself and they are playing fine. Just installed 2 SonyExplode speakers with it in the trunk and they really create amazing base and crystal clear sound without any amp or subs. Here are details from Sony webiste.
