Animal Collisions, How To Avoid, React & Remain Safe On Roads?

This last December, I was going to my office on the Canal (Lahore) and the guy infront of my suddenly slows down, I manage to quickly stop behind him while he goes over a dog, which I find out when he has crossed over him. Immediately I look behind me and the car is braking but I it is clear he'll hit me so I move a little further but he crashes into me.. After a bit I went out to check if he's okay, because he wasn't coming out of the car.. He says he's fine, checks his damage, some broken stuff in the front of his cultus grill, my car looks fine and the dog is on his last moments on the road. Since its neither of our faults we nod off and he goes of.. I get in the car and try to drive but there is something hard rubbing with the tires that there is hindrance. So I get out to look, and apparently the collision had made the bumper go in, and the driver side rear mud guard is against the tire.

Now my car is parked in the first lane ever since the accident, so there is a 2 foot gap between the car and the footpath, so I sit there and begin unscrewing the mudguard since I can't pull it.. The screws were lose so I can do it by hand. After about 20-25 seconds I look towards the left and hardly 8-10 feet from me, a motorcyclist is coming towards me at full speed and not even breaking. As a reaction I get up and bam he goes into me. I regained consciousness when I was on the ground 5-6 seconds later and his motorcycle is on my leg and I see him sitting, while I can't move my body at all, only my arms and neck.. I tell him to pick the bike and when he does I see that my left foot is twisted a bit on the wrong side.. I tell him to call an ambulance and put my head back.. 10-15 seconds later people start gathering around me, Asking who hit me and I told them a motorcycle, and they tell me there is none.. That is when I figured out he had Ran away.. I asked them to call an ambulance, I thought I'll go unconscious to quickly called my friend who was nearby at the office and a few family members.. 1122 ambulance came and took me..

Allah ka shukar hai there was no permanent damage, I fractured my left leg completely into two pieces, and had to have a surgery where now they've put a metal rod inside. Now after 8-9 months I'm able to finally walk without any support..

So moral is: the article is correct, is not possible, don't swerve around for any Animals, and be VERY careful on the road, because you never know what can happen.. I blame myself for my stupidity and the motorcyclist for being blind or dunno what.. But I have no idea why the motorcyclist rode straight into me, so I'm not sure if he is to blame.

Once my Uncle hit a dog and he was at around 80kMPH in his old 82 Corolla with those big front bumper. The dog flew for few feet and as we come out to see the damage hmm nothing happened not even a scratch

Any damage to your car?

From the outside it looked fine; Fog light broken, Number Plates broken, Bumper scratched badly. But the real damage was in side. The safety bar behind the bumper and the a/c grill both were bent.

A wild boar once hit me while i was traveling through H-8, islamabad in my khyber. It was not a front hit but left corner. The bumper cracked a little, turn signal broke and the camber of left wheel was way out. Boar is much solid animal as compared to a dog but with low height. It was crossing the road from the left and when i saw it in my head lights beam, it was right in front of me. The corner of the bumper hit its head and its whole body was spinning along the side of my car.

When i saw in my back view mirror he was still spinning and later he just ran away as nothing happened...

The point to remember is do not risk your lives to save an animal; stay in speed limits; keep your distance from the vehicles ahead of you. Do not brake hard to lock your wheels as you will loose your control of steering, brake in your lane first before steering away... if someone hits you from behind it will be his fault. If you steer and hit someone in other lane it will be your fault...

we were travelling on motorway near sial towards lhr my dad was driving he saw two dogs on motorway mid lane chasin each other dad slowed down car to 100 from 140 and changed lane to right extreme the dogs also did same dad changed lane again so did the two idiot dogs it was raining and there were 4 cars behaind so we couldnt apply hard brakes as jeep was a prado and didnt wanted it to spin out or any such thing eventully kutoun koh unki khail mahngi parh gai and gari keh nechey a gai we just felt a little bump and my youngest sister started crying .. these stray animals on highway are too dangerous specially on high speeds

I hit a dog with my corolla last year, it was around 11 pm in the night, I was going around 110kph.

Near taxila, they've installed sort of metal polarizers on the central divider in a certain patch where pedestrian crossings are too much so that the drivers aren't blinded by pakistani high beams and HIDs in parabolic lamps and therefore can clearly see 'people' in front of them.

There isn't much nuisance and I am chatting to the one in my passenger's seat when I suddenly see two stick sort of things come through those metal polarizers in front of my car and bam! I hit something hard, the one with me claims its a dog while I pray it wasn't a friggin auntie in a burqa who failed to spot me.

I stop the car, assess the damage: front bumper is torn into 3 pieces, both horns are nowhere to be seen, fog lights are history.

Now I come to the real part, where did the organism that I hit, go? I look around, no crowds no nothing no sound, all quiet. Still my doubt isn't gone, so I think I should move as the other car is already far ahead of me and I am alone, so I put it in gear and set off again.

Then there is this sound "ggrr gggrrrrrr" from the undercarraige and I think something is wrong with the car. I get off once again and peak under the car from the front and guess what: a huge goat sized dog is stuck hard in the chassis near the transmission!

So I think for a moment until the one with me suggests reversing the car a bit, so I do it. With a little choon and cheen, the dog comes out, and to my surprise gets up realizing that he isn't in heaven or hell, hops away totally unharmed! LOL.

Still the story doesn't end here, ten days back from date, the car's AC gives up, I think the compressor is done, but the mechanic takes out the condenser and shows me a big bend in it, he says the bend has touching the chassis for sometime now and the gas has leaked. I remember that dog I hit and failed to kill.

I spend 7k Rs and get it fixed. On eid day it gives up again, now tomorrow I'll be buying a new condenser for it and spend another 10k or so due to that dumpcrap dog, a year later he's still costing me $$$. (-_-)

I don't expect a motorcycle under the command of a human with perfect hearing to move out of my way upon blazing the horns, I guess dogs aren't 'ashraf-ul-Makhlookaat', so horns would be making close to no difference at all.

I don't expect a motorcycle under the command of a human with perfect hearing to move out of my way upon blazing the horns, I guess dogs aren't 'ashraf-ul-Makhlookaat', so horns would be making close to no difference at all.

Every animal reacts in a different manner and we must understand what should be our actions.As my father told me and i have experienced it myself its the early morning hours in which most of these animals come out
jackals,fox are usually shy animals and solitary so they avoid the roads
Wild boars when with there herd will stay and are very sluggish in their movement
Goats can be dangerous if you see one has crossed the road the others will definitely try to follow
Calf's will always follow their mom even if they see a car comin this applies to all young ones
At night when you see an animal and put full beam it might do nothin cuz a hi beam just stuns an animal and it wont move
Just like they tell pilots about behavior of different birds i.e every bird reacts differently when it sees a plane same applies to road animals.
P.S This is all what my experience has taught me i might be wrong kindly donot take it as a final word thankyou
