Assalam O Alaikum guys,
I accidentally opened this website after a lot of time and saw some replies. I have my reasons for such a long absence. I was sent to a project in Narowal and i have been there since Spetember 2014, i move to Gujranwala on weekends so i have not been able to give time to my hobby. That was the time when Khyber was in its final stages i controlled it preparation on phone from Narowal. I will try to take its recent pics and upload it. Following are the lessons that i learnt from this restoration.
First and the most imp one is that job holders cannot spare so much time and should not indulge in such activities.
Half hard work doesnt pay off that well (like we did, we left things to professional people and barged in where ever we thought necessary) End result was not so good and no one takes the responsibility the so called professionals have their excuses and we have our own. Proper work shops and tools are the most important part.
If you cannot do major parts of restorations or repairs yourself get good people for it. We compromised on quality mechanics/ denters thinking that we could fill in the gap but we ended in ruining their work and they ruined ours. This is the place where the biggest problem lies good workshops have their price tags and availability issues ( no one with a good reputation in gujranwala was ready to take up this project) and the other average people cannot do these kind of things. These kind of projects are out of their mind set.
We spent about 150,000 Rs on that car, result is that it does not even touch 50 % mark it has got barely satisfactory condition. What i succeeded in is that its chassis aligned and is moves in a straight line. however its front seat are badly fit and doors are not smooth.
I wonder if i had taken to suzuki authorized dealership they would have taken same kind of amount but it would have been a lot better of a vehicle. We tried to save money and failed badly.
City is also a major factor we have better facilities in bigger cities like lahore, islamabad or karachi but in cities like ours things are hard to get and tension increases by 100 %.
Learn your lesson guys, cheer up. Good thing is my cousin did not kill me so all is well.
