Another solo trip - a tribute to KKH

In the morning, I was on road heading towards Yasin Valley. Near Gopis, there is a left turn from where a 40 minutes drive will take you to this valley.

There is bridge that links Chitral road to Yasin valley where I stopped to see if signals are back. To my delight, my mobile was alive again. Called my host who was very concerned that I was not accessible for the last two days.

Note that Yasin valley has no tourist facilities like hotels and dhabbas. I did see a small house with " Guest House" wall chalking but it was a ghost house closed for good as tourists seldom visit here. Road is good except a couple of bad patches.

Let's start driving to the valley of Lalik Jan " Nishan e Hyder".

I was getting close to the town. A rare sight....owing to very less traffic, two boys chatting on the road.

My host was waiting for me and he lead me to Hunder valley to visit the village of Lalik Jan. Now there is a road to Hunder valley.

A place that reminds of a flood that had wiped off several villages along its path and after satisfying its aggression, left the place barren and unproductive.

Soon we were in Hunder valley. This concrete path leads to the monument of Lalik Jan.

The place where Lalik Jan spent his childhood days and where he had grown up. Now a boundary wall is erected.

Just for my guidance, what is the travel time from Gilgit to Phandar, Phandar to Yasin Vally and Phandar to Shandur. Need your guidance as I am planning Gilgit-Phandar-Shadur-Chitral track this year, INSHALLAH.

With these thoughts, I booked a room overlooking the lake. Compared to Gupis, this motel is not that lavish....may be a bit old. Hot water was not available but they promised a bucket in the morning...excuse was, wood is not yet collected for geazer.

When i visited in 2013, water was not available both cold & hot but its manager tried to be smart.

Hey boy, how are you doing? Long time...... You must be focusing well on your profession and this is the way....rest comes automatically.

Re DSLR, please let me know three best reasons to buy a DSLR for a person like me who has no interest in bulky things when hitting the outdoors.

Asif, the place is Hunder valley about 30 minutes further drive from Yasin valley.

When i visited in 2013, water was not available both cold & hot but its manager tried to be smart.

So this confirms that this PTDC Phander lacks basic facilities as well. Yes manager tried to be smart when he asked me to endorse this place though he charged for the services that he did not offer.

Gilgit to Phander 4 to 5 hours. Phander to Yasin 2 to 3 hours. Phander to Shandur depends on where you want to go in Shandur.
