Why are we doing all of this while knowing that we are exposing our coming generations to earthquakes, typhoons and floods. I was up after hearing noise in the room. My host's son was so kind burning wood in this chamber considering that I as outsider might be feeling cold after morning bath. This room is used as family common room during winters where they eat, chat and relax when negative outside temperatures make the life slow.

The other house I had visited yesterday also had similar room.

After breakfast, we were ready to hit the track leading to Wakhan corridor. My dirty car enjoying the best parking space. One wheel cap was lost somewhere around Patan or Dassu. I think I need to buy complete set of four now, not sure if I can get "geneyne" single piece!

It is more appropriate to call village streets "tracks". On water crossings there were concrete slabs and at places, it was challenge to have the car pass safely without trouble. My companion sometimes have to step out and guide me through potholes. Anyhow we were on the road leading to Hunder valley of Lalik Jan. His village is renamed as " Lalikjanabad".

We crossed Hunder valley and road gave way to a not so inviting path where I have to drive patiently....not an issue.....I had ample time because of getting early in the morning.

A village on the way. Stopped to share candies with these two brothers. Elder one stepped ahead but the little boy started crying and was not ready to move an inch. My companion chat with the elder brother and then informed me that the kid is afraid of the car......he has seen tractors, mehrans and motorbikes but not a diggie wali car.

But we see obvious reasons....we sold our rivers..... we cut trees ruthlessly....we don't replant.....water level under Lahore is dropping 3 feet a year and remaining water is not refreshing because Ravi is dead. Mohammed SAW said "you have a plant in your hand.....suddenly you see world is coming to an end......you should still plant the tree". (Allah forgive me if my wording is not proper) This is the importance of trees.

Slowly and patiently, I was driving while enjoying the surroundings.

Then we stopped at this place.....strange feelings touched me and I felt there was something in the surroundings.... something different from the landscape we had left behind.

My host informed me that there was a village at this point many years ago....and at night when villagers were sleeping, a flood triggered a huge landslide and swept away everything that came in its way.

A herd on the way.....path was very narrow and I was afraid of my car getting scratched.
