The #1 requirement for batteries is quality electrolyte, which unfortunately is missing from the market. I hope your company does something about this.

Can you post the cold cranking ampere ratings of your products as this is an auto forum we would mostly be interested in SLI batteries.

btw why dont you guys put an effort to sell proper electrolyte solution - the reason most batteries fail in Pakistan are due to bad electrolyte. There is also a good avenue of selling properly crimped battery cables with good and proper quality female terminals.

to be very honest pakistani companies will never mention the correct CCa or Ah on there batteries, and the reason being the ampere war between the local companies, u were right that the ampere written on battery is actually its brand name for example Exide battery which is used in Pick Ups is called EX100, two years back it was called N96Z and if u go back further it was known as N90Z, and internationally it is still called N70, few of local companies have the same type by the name of N105 and N110 :), so if u go to buy any battery always ask for the Number of plates per cell, more plates would mean more cranking power

1) Xulfiqar has asked a very valid question, why don?t you guys sell proper electrolyte as it?s the number one cause in battery failure or company simply enjoys selling more and more units every year. Everyone on this forums wants to buy a proper electrolyte but they don?t find it from any reliable source.
2) Once company can manufacture batteries for vehicles but they why can?t they develop batteries for UPS sector.
3) Batteries sold with UPS written on it actually are same as other batteries. What?s the problem in manufacturing deep cycle batteries?

Is it simply a monopoly?

i can tell u reliable sources in ISB and Rawalpindi and they will provide u better electrolyte, another suggestion is when buying a battery buy some distilled water and ask the battery dealer to prepare electrolyte for ur battery with that distilled water instead of normal water, plus there is another very important thing no body has pointed it out and that is Initial charging of the battery for atleast 5 to 6 hours, whenever buy a battery for UPS or car ask the battery dealer to properly charge it for 5 to 6 hours, it will increase ur battery life 5 to 6 month.
yeah they are same as other batteries, Exide experimented with 2 kinda battery available in the market as NP185 & NP210, they are specially designed for UPS application where the thickness of the +ve plate was increased to give more back up, have anybody tried it ? , we got a very positive feed back of both of these batteries from the market ,still almost 99% of batteries are same as those for cars,

Why dont we get what we pay for?

3 years back i bought FB, the warranty was for 1 year, (my ride has 2 batteries) both died at the same time, I was very happy that they lasted for 3 years... Now i went again to buy FB, many said dont buy it their quality has gone down......

Why the quality goes down?

Tomorrow I'll buy AGS and try it out.

u should not be complaining brother, ur batteries worked for 3 years what else u need, FB & Tokyo Batteries are also Exide pakistan limited Brands, FB and Tokyo are manufactures under Japanese technology and Exide under British technology, FB is a very famous japanese brand and lots of Toyota imported cards from japan have these batteries installed, and in fact our COmpany also supplies FB batteries to local assembled TOyota company, Get ur new batteries fully charged and always take care of the water level of it plus u can ask the battery dealer to check ur vehicle charging system by a Load Tester

No battery manufacturer in Pakistan writes any rating on their batteries. They simply write the model nos. which are useless unless we get some manual to decipher them. The guys selling them at shops dont know jack, jill, andaa, aaloo or anything about batteries - for them its maal, itnay ka khareed itnay ka farokht. I hate such business people.

If the battery is maintained correct chemically only then can you measure its performance. My mercedes benz has a genuine MB battery, its flooded type, with 100 AH rating, 900CA and 780CCA. with H8 dimension size. Its date stamp says 2007 - still cranks the engine quick. I have had to replenish some distilled H20 in it twice in a year.

With such info - I can choose to buy a battery of any manufacturer that meets these requirements, not possible with Exide, FB, AGS or any brand in Pakistan as they dont sell European style batteries, just like they dont like to sell proper electrolyte - It would be a deal killer on sales, and saith sb wont be able to buy his new BMW 7 series sedan.

there can still ba a huge difference between local companies e.g. Compnies like Exide and AGS used virgin lead imported from australia mostly and whereas other companies buy old Exide and AGS FB batteries from the market and use its recycled lead, why would our company being the most selling brand in pakistan would compromise on their quality, and honestly speaking performence of batteries in Cars etc is fine bcoz of the improved charging system etc its the UPS application where lots of customers are complaining and the reason behind that is quite clear , there are more than 100 kinds of UPS manufactures all with different specs so it becomes very difficult for the battery manufacturer to produce battery for each and every UPS

last year Pak Suzuki did a campaign " Suzuki Carnival" where they checked pak suzuki vehicles for free, we also took part in that as a Vendor Since Exide Supplies batteries to Suzuki new cars, and during the check up almost 50% of cars had water level to the lowest point in the battery cells, lots of people do not even bother to check the water level, it not only decreases the life of battery and also there is a great danger of battery cell getting short circuit, plus it is fully dry it can even blast, so always check the water or electrolyte level of ur batteries when ever u check the water in radiator

I have actually been to the Exide office in PECHS Karachi trying find an H7 sized battery for my VW diesel. I also asked to talk to some "techinical manager etc" and met someone who had no idea what cranking amperes was. Later on after explaining him and showing some documents from my laptop the guy refused to disclose any CCA or reserve rating of the batteries and said its confidential - WTH????

I required an 800 CA battery for my car in H7 shape, they did not have it - so I simply bought a Varta product from another shop.

I fail to understand why no reserve, ca or cca rating are written on any Pakistani batteries - isnt that "fraud" - lets say I give you a technical requirement of a batch of batteries, do you guys come back and offer me your product with no paper trail or data proving it?

3 years is nothing for a battery in a small car, my diesel mercedes has a battery that was installed in 2007 - its 5 years old and still spins the engine fast - Its an original mercedes branded battery that was manufactured by Bosch in Spain. Its called size H8, aka 49R. A new one costs USD 120/-

A simple SLI purpose battery has a different requirement and chemisty compared to a deep cycle battery as a UPS or marine engine requires. None of the Pakistani manufacturers offer specialized deep cycle batteries - its not that every other UPS requires a specific battery - its a standard that they require a 12V DC deep cycle battery.

Take this as productive research base for yourself and get some information - that way you can have actual tools that can give you correct market analysis.

@YR the other respectable member AsadGhumman is only making it bit lighter. Don't be scared and do not RUN AWAY. all members are sensible and maintain a line of respect & sensibility unless otherwise 'deliberate short circuit is induced'.

However you shall (atleast) share the tech specs for members here which are not known (neither they desire to know) by your channel partners & resellers. share the actual technical data of all class of batteries sold by your company. The detail which is not printed on batteries and manufacturer is CHEATING the consumers

If a regular run off the mill exide, AGS, FB battery is filled with 100% correct mixture made with lab grade H2SO4 and pure distilled 0TDS, neutral PH water at 1.270 SG measured at 20*C and charged for 3 hours as boost before putting into service. I can tell you from my own experience I have ran these batteries for more than 5 years at a time in Pakistan - the charging system of my cars were good and the battery level was topped about 4 times each year.

That is why I asked about the electrolyte, because unless you dont fulfill the premilinary requirements you cannot gather any data or expect any result - as there are too many uncontrolled variables.

For technical details - the batteries should follow standard ratings printed on them mainly

AH - amp hours
CCA - cold cranking amperes (how much constant amps a battery can put out at 0*C for 30 seconds before the cell voltage drops below 1.2) 7.2V total.
CA or HCA - cranking amps or hot cranking amps (how much constant amps a battery can put out at 26*C for 30 seconds before the cell voltages drop below 1.2) (7.2V total)
RC - reserve capacity measured in minutes, how much time a battery can sustain a draw of 25 amps at 26*C before the battery voltage drops below 10.5V

Size dimensions in mm (Pakistan follows metric system). and also the size model as set by the BCI group ratings.

With such data in hand - it makes clear boundaries for your customers and also protection of your company - If a customer complains that a battery is not performing as required - you can measure his requirement and compare to your technical specs and have a clean judgement. At the current moment, There is no information, so If a customer buys a smallish battery and kills it within a month because he wanted to run his super sized audio system and gets to claim warranty from your company over and over (its a giant loophole) Its not the customer who is in pain - its the company as they have to serve him fresh batteries under warranty becuase there is no data to measure anything.

So instead of having an ampere war between seth sahab and his freinds in which the customers are suffering, get the correct information out.

i have got two exide 120 batteries. both have died now. i have tried replacing the water with proper distilled water of 12 gravity.

Also got powergizer to remove sulphur from the cells but no positive results for now.

Please suggest whether replacement is the only solution. What is the expected life of the battery?
