On the highway the car should preform pretty well. It isn't the quickest vehicle, but as fuel costs are your primary concern then it will do the job on the motorway. I think the max speed it will do on EV Mode will be about 35-40MPH (Our escape does max 35mph before switching to gas). The gas engine in the 07 Prius i think was the 1.5l 4 cyl which is also quite economical. Roughly speaking it will give you better gas mileage on the motorway then lets say a 1.6l corolla, that I can say with confidence.

If you want the best fuel economy get a volkswagen blue motion polo it gets 80mpg around 30-32km/l.

No need to replace batteries and diesel is just 3-4 rs more expensive so it's much more economical:

Japanese are crazy for Prius. Since the launch of latest generation Prius in 2009, it is the top selling car in Japan. It is selling so much that it sells 1.5 times the 2nd top selling car Honda Fit.It sells between 25-30,000 units per month.

It is also selling very well in US and comes in top 15.More than 1 million priuses have been sold in US.

so far i am getting mostly positive reviews about toyota prius, parts isn't an issue for me. but the battery thing is bugging me
if it fails, can the car be run on petrol or does it become motionless if battery dies?

No offense little bro! It's just that when the company itself advertises 50mpg (which we know is always on the higher side) then how can it be giving 80mpg.

As far as price is concerned a friend of mine is importing a 2007 soon. We just had a meeting with the importer yesterday, it will cost him around 1.65-1.7 million for a good condition low mileage 4 grade car.

in islamabad their number is increasing too, so definitely mechanical issues and parts availability will be no issues in some time
