Api sn & ilsac gf-5 confusions

we have limited options of 5W-30, mostly i found Total and Shell oils, they are easily available, few of my friends are using 5W-40 thats available in multiple brands like Havoline.
Mobil1, i heard lot of positive feed back, but not available in 5W-30.
.
i would like to ask a query, whats drain interval of Total 9000 Future 5w30 ? i hope few people on this forum has experience of this oil.

Dear Brother , Talking about availability and choosing a quality brand is highly tough in Pakistan and even tougher in some cities like Faisalabad . No one would believe that I did not find Shell Helix Ultra 5W30 at any filling station of Shell or with Shell Distributor in Faisalabad. Finally Shell Karachi has assured me delivery in next week. Yes Caltex 5W40 Fully Synthetic was available with distributor @Rs 2900. My priorities will always remain with MOBIL 1 . Understand that you logically want to shift from Mobil1 0/40 to Shell Ultra 5/30.
But I'll suggest to not go for shell. Because I've seen the bottle of shell ultra 5/30 and they've mentioned API SAE ILSAC etc. etc. But brother seriously, if Shell has mentioned these standards outside the bottle, then it really doesn't means that the oil inside bottle really has these said properties. Come on man, its Pak. and its hard to trust on these local oils. Because in the marketing & advertisements, they simply show them as best. They are just playing to attract customers through commercials. Whereas nothing actual formulas as inserted. They are calling oil fully synthetic, but I can bet they don't know what are the basic difference between non-synthetic & semi synthetic & fully synthetic oils !!

Well, I agree that one should change the company to feel good experience.
Try the following new oils in the market

• PTT Performa Super Synthetic 0/40 (I can bet you will find it better than mobil1)

• Volvoline 5/40 ---- simply un-matchable (if can find USA made oil in Faisalabad. Its available in Lahore).

• ZIC XQ

Don't go for Shell if you really want to keep your engine happy.

Good News : MAL Pakistan Assured today that they have ordered Mobil 1 5W30 and MOBIL OIL Filters to support their Lube life. I really appreciate their this step. A positive step indeed . More over as per Zulfiqar Brother Advice , shifted from Mobil 1 0W40 to Shell Helix Ultra 5W30. Initial Feed Back on that shift is quite convincing , smoothness in acceleration clearly observed , but don't want to give final comments as the oil is new so let it run few hundred KMs. wait for my feed back in detail .........

"non-synthetic" oil is not even a word. It is called mineral oil- get your facts straight. You can market your performa oil all you like but stop degrading shell. Scuderia Ferrari would not use shell in every formula 1 race car and recommend it to everyone else if it wasn't good. Btw- It's VALVOLINE not "volvoline".

btw - Valvoline, Shell, Caltex/Chev/Tex, Castrol, FUCHS, Total, Agip, BP etc all sell high quality lubes which follow an independant performance specification, they are set by API, ACEA, ILSAC etc which are not part of any oil business.

Anyway, as in my previous posts I've repeatedly mentioned that I AM NOT SALES REPRESENTATIVE of the Company PTT Performa neither marketing their oils. I work as Manager Marketing for a leather company who export 90% of their leather products in Europe. But keeping some general information about Engine oils is something that I like and share here. But it really doesn't mean what you've thought or extracted from my posts.

i think u shud read ur whole comments which doesnt make sense by saying every brand of oil not better than PTT Performa (thailand)....we all r using shell or caltex or any other brand bought from petrol pump, m using shell ultra from last 1.5 years in 3 cars no complained yet...we r happy customers of these oil so plz stop saying not to use shell, caltex, total, mobil 1 and liqui moly as fake or bad oil compare to ur thailand made oil...as u know Valvoline r hard to find in fully synthetic n Zic xq is good oil but again not easily available in original packing

I'd prefer to buy Hush Puppies and keep enjoying their use for 2~3 years, rather than Pak. Bata and change every 4~6 months.

Hush Puppies means imported oils from good companies.
Bata means local oils made in Pak.

Somebody said very correct, that "Ignorance is better than awareness".
So unless people get awareness about the actual quality & behaviour of imported oils, they will keep enjoying local oils (Ignorance).
No offense to anyone, but sometimes I feel that its easy to move a mountain rather than a mind-set of a common Pak. guy.

what ive seen is that people are discussing oils on viscosity only and general "feel" that even a global oil business unit like Shell, Castrol etc. sell good product everywhere else except Pakistan.

You will be very amazed to know that the "made in USA" Mobil1 is not the original thing that is used in EU, mobil 1 changed their formula about 3 years ago and stuck with group III base oils, and even refuse to disclose it in some cases. For me thats robbery. Why should I pay a premium when I can buy a true gp IV synthetic oil in the same price. Like Shell Helix Ultra, (shell is pretty famous) but in my personal experience even botique type oil businesses also provide really good oils - e.g.

here are a few that I have used in mercedes benz engines, transmissions, diffs etc.

all are very small business compared to the big guns but have some really good products - many factories use their products without question because they prove it. e.g. swepco make a transmission fluid that is very heavy duty - it beats all others in thermal stability - cleaning the transmission etc etc.

Oils have a set performance specification - which is what you have to look for.

just like when buying a PC, you look for the spec. you dont show up to a shop and say "kampooturr chahiye internet ke liye"

buddy again u came up with senseless explanation, i m using shell ultra from last 1.5 years....first time wen shell came with fully synthetic i wanted to try it one time to see the difference but to my surprised it was as good as imported oil, previously was using Zic XQ 5w40...the result of viscosity n stickiness was still there after 7k km on oil stick....not every brand of Pak made r bad and these r the International brand not local Pak brand like PSO oil, like honda civic n toyota corolla r made here same with shell oil....i guess u r using imported car too for running 10-15 years? ur topic was about fake oil not Pake made, u ve changed the topic...wat i meant to say we r all aware which is fake n which is original be it Pakistan made or imported!!

Fyr, zic xq is not being repacked in pak. because of its rare demands and hence quality is good.

I don't know how to explain this more precisely and put more weight in my comments, but this is that I've observed seriously many times in my previous cars. Such oils run very well for first 1K, after that the graph starts coming down. And when engine goes upto 3.5K, the car itself start telling that there is need to change the oil now.

Fully synthetic & semi-synthetic oils never works like this. They work in engine with a constant flow. As many more miles you drive, the engine start getting happier periodically. The engine's pick up is same at the time of oil change and even after driving 5K.

well your message creates many logics to comply with. Ok.

Just for the sake of information, the 0/40 is perhaps low viscos super synthetic oil fully recommended for the new engines. But it does not bring immediate effects (especially the pick up). But after driving couple of k kms, we start feeling the engine is really happy with this oil and ultimately the drive.

later i am gonna post (new thread) some more interesting thing that i've observed while driving faisalabad yesterday. Hope it will put more weight with regards to engine's performance on synthetic oils.

im using mobil 1 0-40 since day one on my manual trim 1.8 civic 2013 ... changed it at 5000km and again recently at 10000km ... engine is running like a dream mashAllah ( in low as well as high RPM ) ... and will increase the change interval to 8k now with only oil filter change every 4k kms ... in my previous vehicles I have experienced zic, Castrol gtx magnetic and shell but this oil is way ahead in terms of performance ... atleast that's whats been my experience .. peace everyone
