Areas accessible during December in NA

Salam Brothers.

My cousin is planning a biking trip with his friends to murree next month, He wanted to know what places he could visit besides murree. As most of the roads will be covered in snow and not accessible on bikes so what places he can visit.
He was looking to cover murree, nathia gali, thandiani and shugran. Are roads accessible to thandiani and shugran by bike in december? I have seen cars drive in snow, can bikes do that too? is it possible to visit siri and paye on bikes in December?

u will have plenty of sun light in DECEMBER and easily accessible in DECEMBER. i know so much info about karachi because i live here and have spent many years almost aall my life thus many DECEMBERS also hehe jus kidding well as u know we have the nature at its best in pakistan gifted to us by Almight ALLAH AlhumduliAllah and there will be plenty of snowfall but it is a tourist attractive scenery also but mostly our pakistanis go to visit the northern areas in december but in cars it would be very cold weather i dont think bike is a good idea because cars skit on snowfall i dont know about bike but experts might be more helpfull

1. muree to ayubia
2. muree to nathia gali
3. nathia gali to thandiani
4. kiwai to shugran

I was there at Nathia Gali Murree on 21st December...

Biking is not a good idea on the snowy and icy(sheesha road).

So avoid it...

Regarding snow position... It was snowfall in Murree and Nathia gali in the night between 20 and 21 December. In murree the road were clear.. No snow at all.. But ahead Khaira Gali upto Nathia Gali was dangerous due to sheesha baraf in evening on 21st December. The areas exposed to sunshine were clear of snow, all snow melted same day.

This was the first snowfall. After that still there is no snowfall there. Might be tonight or tomorow get more snow.

In my opinion biking idea may be dropped.

In snow you can bike upto Murree.. But nathia gali and thandiani will be a real challenge scary and dangerous.

In these areas usually snowfalls and melt in one or two days.

I was on murree on 13.02.2011, Not a single patch of snow... but nathia gali was full of snow.. and roads has more than one feet snow.

In the end, uptill now,, the roads are clear upto all your destinations and free of snow.. You may proceed on bike before the next snowfall.

I never seen any locals driving bikes on snow...

biking isn snow is not a great idea i guess. u can make the trip on a 4 wheeler. i dont think biking is even possible in snow unless u have a quad bike...

@ ranasherdil & asifcae - Thanks for your input brothers. I agree with what both of you have said. I think plan should only go ahead before the next snowfall. I called up a couple of hotels in nathia gali who said that snow has all melted and roads are clear for now. Although he said more snow falling is expected this weekend.

Reporting from Abbottabad.. today the weather is all perfect- sunshine.There was a snowfall a couple of days back in galyat ,murree,thandyani.. yesterday I was in natyagali and I won't advice you to go on bike..its quit dangerous and secondly going to thandani on a bike is a big nono.. take good care of yourself...the roads over there specially in thandyani s damn slippery plus congested.
