Doing this in a EFI car is not recommended.
Your car runs fine after a reset and may be it cannot complete its idle relearn in your weekend driving. And then you reset it again...

Spark plugs: unlikely as they have been changed about 20K milage earlier.

1KR Engines are noisy, I am at peace with that already. Today I went to have the silencer and dholki checked and they seem to be in good condition. I remember once I actually did succeed to make the car sound bearable by using an STP fuel injector cleaner. It made the engine sound almost 50% less. I'll try it again.

I normally use HOBC mixed with regular which fixed knocking.

But I didn't find Toyota CVT Fluid today, they say it's short. But there is another KIXX CVT Fluid too, about 2900Rs, Mechanic says he used it and gives good results but I am not convinced. I used their Engine Oil but shifted to LiquiMoly recently with 5W-40 rating.

There are no significant error on ODB, a busted ABS sensor and that's it. Short term value was at -20 but after fuel pump changed it returned to normal. I'll have the values checked again.

My highest priority is to have the CVT Fluid changed.

Polo is an electrician. Near landi kotal chorangi some one on this forum told me about him. And I dont know about the gear model how can I find about tha gear model and i want to know What is DLc?

get under the car and take detailed pictures of every area including where the wiring enters the gearbox.

If the ECU is not seeing the shift solenoids connected or the speed sensor - it will display a check engine light and you can read the error codes too.

AOA. Short Question before I go ahead on having the cleaning performed.

Throttle Body: What it is, and why it needs cleaning ?

I recently had to replace the fuel pump for Vitz 2005 I have. After that the mechanic went through OBD readings and recalibrate the engine. But told me that throttle body needs cleaning. Though the Car has improved performance but still sometimes gives gaps in ignition, most at rest or slow reverse. These gaps are usually very short, 10-50 ms. But enough to tell that it's happening, does it mean there are breakage in wires and need replacement ?

Also has long self and sometimes starts on second self when cold.

Also what is average milage before a CVT fluid should be changed. Mine has run for 40K.

the fuel pump is first tested before you condemn it to be bad, the throttle almost never requires cleaning unless its locking or getting stuck. For the short miss - get your mechanic to connect his scan tool and pull up the misfire counter for each cylinder, ignition timing, STFT and LTFT - then look at the readings at idle speed, 2000 rpm and 3000 rpm.

If you are seeing negative trim at idle but positive while running - you have a dirty MAF along with some problem like stuck EGR or bad valve seats - (bad mixture).

If you have been using very thick oil in the engine, the vvt variator can get sludged up and start to stick. This will make the engine run funny while idling and in some cases throw a TDC sync error too.

xulfiquar Bhai what are some of the salient things that I MUST inspect (engine wise) while buying ten year old sedans (specifically Nissan Sunny or Mitsubishi Lancer) with more than 100k on the odo. I wil appreciate if you could explain in lay man terms. Much appreciated and reply awaited.

check the body structure everywhere for repair/damage - open and close the doors, test drive the car and try to nagivate slowly on uneven road - like climbing a driveway, if the body creaks or you hear odd sounds, then most probably the car is a gone case.

Checking the engine is easy. it should start sweetly, run like factory spec meaning, no direct running radiator fan, it should be getting fully warmed up (half gauge) - and have no issues pulling the car and should not be making odd noises or blowing smoke or leaking any oil from anywhere.

If you see tell tale signs of "deezal sarviss" in engine bay - make a budget to replace all the wiring/plastics/rubber in the engine bay in the future.

The suspension and brakes are almost bound to be bad unless they can prove it to you that it was repaired professionally and not with "ustaad ka haath and aaloo ki grease"

There is no visible leak from axle or differential. The only fluid leak is from the gear area. After checking from under side my mechanic has told me there is oil leaking from a point inside the accelerator cable joint which was repaired before this event, there is a seal inside it that needs to be reinstalled or reset at its proper position.

As far as rear axle there is no fluid or leak he could find, however there will be some small work done on "goday" to avoid wheel lock.

kindly advise if you recommedn any additional action

please have your mechanic not smoke charass when he repairs your car

Yes, both the fuel filter and fuel pump are new. Fuel pressure what checked before and after change on pump. Previously it was 10-15 and after change it increased to 45-55.

By gaps in ignition, what happens is when I start the car, it take a long self (but sometimes short/normal) to start. The engine RPM doesn't stay stable while at rest, for example dropping to lowest and increasing to stay running. This causes the car to sometimes turn-off on signals but mostly when in 'D'.

I tried to reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery for 1-2 minutes, it improved RPM to great extant but have not eliminated the issue.

Another concern is engine sound. After recalibration, the sound has increased considerably, especially during acceleration but when stable at a speed it gets normal. For example when going from 0-50 Km/h it sounds like a jeep. but when reaching the desired speed it gets silent. May be CVT fluid is the reason here.

did you install a new fuel pump or a used fuel pump?

Disconnecting the battery for more than 2 hours - will reset the keep alive memory in the ECU effectively wiping out the learned long term fuel trims.

Dont do that unless you are 1000% sure that your fault is rectified.

if you were seeing -20% STFT, its impossible to see a low fuel pressure problem, -20% means that the ECU is "removing fuel" from the mix to compensate for the excessive fuel being dumped in the engine.

Unless you are telling it backwards - I would expect a +20% STFT and similar LTFT with a low fuel pump pressure problem

If you had sound lessen with fuel injector cleaner or any octane boost then have a good look at the fuel trims and how the engine behaves while a load is applied like A/C compressor.

the booming sound while accelerating can be bad engine mount/foundations.

Dear Xulfiquar bhai, i posted this problem earlier, if u could guide me through.........I have corolla GLI 2010, and there is a problem with my car, this is happening second time. After driving around one hour, when in idle i press the clutch the rpms go high around 2300 and stay there while the clutch is pressed, and the engine check light comes on. The last time this happened the mechanic guy told me that clutch plates are done, i changed the plates (in Aug this year), but now same thing is happening. Also when this happens, the car looses the pick. Is this the clutch again or something else? and can it b so that clutch plates are done in this time period? please you or any other guru here help me.

This sounds like a problem with the etcs system, either the accelerator pedal position sensor or the throttle body motor itself. These cannot be diagnosed without the toyota techstream, also, what is code stored when obd2 is connected

Started the vehicle after 1 week got heavy vertical vibrations went to the workshop and imed got the engine mounts changed unfortunately he only had febi mounts for my m112 merc i wanted lemforder ones but for that i had to wait,khair i changed the mounts alongwith the gear mount and fuel filter checked the serpentine belt as well.Now the issue is that i get a slight nudge on idle a very low rhythmic vibration.Mechanic says i have weak plugs on one side i think its the 6th cylinder.Dont know whether to go for a sparkplug change cuz i had them replaced 50k back genuine bosch

i wrote in ur thread also havving problem transmission fluid leak and right rear wheel is locking up (its not rotating! gets stuck then moves on its own will then stuck again!)

mech told me

replace speedometer garari seal

replace rear axel seals

please reply back with any other checks to be done/any other recommendation.

u also said before differential can become dangerous "check the pinion position on the crown wheel." WHat exactly is being checked. whats it called in Urdu? and how do I know its done correctly. every person can say its done perfect how do I know? I hope you can reply some method, other than take it to reliable person, because reliable mechanics have made mistakes causing the issues
