So today I decided to get the packing removed from the rear wheels that have been there ever since I bought the car last year (Honda Civic 2009). After driving around for 15 minutes I came home and parked the car, as I was looking around I noticed that the driver side looked lower than the passenger side for the back.
Passenger side measured 27.75 Inches and the Driver side measured 27.25 Inches roughly, meaning half an inch of difference.
He installed it infront of me & the picutre I took from the internet for reference. First he just put it on a jack (didn't remove the wheel), unbolted the Nutt (Number 1 Blue), took out the coil spring and removed the spacer/packing (Number 2 Red), put the coil spring back while another dude stuck a rod somewhere and was pulling down the whole suspension. In the end he managed to slide the coil spring back in place like this no problem, but while the top rubber sit's perfectly (Number 4 Purple) the bottom rubber doesn't which is still only a 0.1inch difference at most (Number 3 Green).
I will upload pictures of my own car in a little bit. Initially the car was sitting much higher but after putting some body weight on the trunk the suspension sunk in, I tried applying my weight on the passenger side to see makes it sink another 0.5 inches to match the other side, but nope it stays the same.
I have yet to test this out extensively but the 15 minute drives over some bumps seemed better and less harsh.
Edit: I found this, so the top rubber on both sides is fine and mounted properly, the bottom one however slipped and aren't perfectly in line with the spring on both sides. Moreover, the guy told me that the rubber for the passanger side was a bit broken off. I'm wondering what if I remove it from both sides? Will that be acceptable?
