"PAKI" is not an insult. Why should we impose some one elses meaning of the word upon ourselves?

This is what I thought before I looked it up in WIKIPEDIA..

Now I am begining to think that we need to be considerate of fellow Pakistanis who have suffered the abuse of the word and refrain from using the word.

In my personal view the word PAKI doesn’t depict to be an insult coz to see a broader aspect people also call u MUSLE/MUSLOUN so what about these. Its our natural psyche that whenever some one will try to tease us we will get teased e.g if a bearded chap falls, we will say to him “sufi saab ger gaya” so that SUFI saab will take a note and may get in an argument that why u have called him SUFI. Once we were teens and used to fight for petty things my parents used to advise me that if a Dog starts barking at you then you don’t have to bark at him so similarly if some one by any means wants to call u PAKI ( irrespective of the motive behind ) let him call. We can only look ahead if we ignore all such petty things

I agree that we should not use PAKI at all nor let anyone else call us... However at the same time, I have noticed plenty of times peoples using JAPs here for Japanese...Japanese hates that more then we hate Paki's as americans used to call them Japs during the world war ... so lets stop using wrong words.

It's a common term used here in UK. It was a racist remark in the 70's but now it is taken with a pinch of salt. Its the same as honkey (for white man) and nigga, bungi (Bangladeshi), pigs (Police), Coconut (asian christian), etc
