Recently purchased mitsubishi ASX here in sharjah. Driving automatic car first time. I have one query.
The normal gear for drive is D (right position in D) . but what is this –D and +D near D gear? See the pic.

I know that these are smaller gears. The gear lever moves to left but dont stay on –D or +D when I try to move lever towards -D or +D. It moves back to same position (left position in D).
Also tell me under what conditions I should use -D and +D? For going up hill I will use -D or +D?

That's a semi autmatic transmission, when you move the shifter to the left it comes in a sort of 'manual mode' where you have to change gears but, without a clutch. Car won't change gears by itself like when in normal D. +D is for an upshift (e.g 2nd to 3rd) and -D is for downshifting. And the shifter is supposed to come back when moving it either way.

as the gentleman explained in above post, it gives a sort of sporty full control of gears with the comfort of automatic
