I am divided between getting a set of components or 6x9" speakers to fit in the back. I can only get either for my first upgrade.
Q Which is better and why. I get that components have a separate woofer tweeter and crossover while 6x9" have all in one speaker. Please elaborate on differences of getting either and what would lead to better sound quality. I do have an amplifier and am inclined towards SQ system.

u are mixing things up..6x9 is just the speaker size..6 inch by 9 inch..like 6.5 inch...4 inch and etc..all in one is a coaxial speaker..u should get a pair of components for now..later on add a woofer..forget rear speakers

if you're getting components for the front (and no coaxials for the rear), please know that you WILL need a subwoofer for the bass... the components you get in your budget will not be able to handle any real bass... they arent really meant to.

decent components are for 7K and above (but you can search PW for good used ones)
plus you'll need an amp if you're looking to get good sound out of your speakers. a 4 channel amp if you're looking to add rear speaker or a subwoofer. search PW for used unrepaired ones. there were plenty of them here the last time i looked.
if you're looking to add 4 speakers (coaxials or components or both) plus a sub, you should make sure your system has 3 RCA outputs and then you'd need another 2-channel or mono amp for the sub.

my recommendation... if you're low on cash... build upon your system gradually...

Yes. I do plan on building the system slowly. The question being, if it was between getting components first vs a pair of Coaxial Speaker. What would you prefer. I guess component would provide better front sound stage with the tweeters mounted high. I am not big on bass

I'd say go with rears first. I'm not big on bass either but you need to have balanced sound.

Assuming you already have a pre, I'm sure you can easily get a 4 channel amp plus rears. Pioneer D series 6x9s should be available rather cheap. And they're big on sound too. Search Pw for a 4 channel amp and rears. Plenty of bargains available. Madhouse had a great alpine amp up for sale.

Remember to spend some money on the wiring as well.

Definitely, but I'm simply sharing my experience and advising him based on stuff I've learnt.

The generally well known sq path is expensive. I've done my own little homework and modified that path so that ppl who love music and can't shell out tons of cash, can still have their fair share of SQ.

I just don't think he will be too happy with comps, no rear fill and no sub.
@kazim if you're in karachi I'll give you a demo on comps without a sub or rears. You decide then.

I got components and amp from @jz and will be pairing them with Blaupunkt GTX 693 which I had from my previous car.
Looking forward to my first audio upgrade

Yes you can by installing an inline capacitor on the positive wire of a specific capacitance depending upon the specs of the target and the intended cut off frequency, wont recommend it though, use the HPF , flexible and selectable slopes.

no they dont come with crossover unless specified. you can put a capacitor on them too . They cost like 25 to 30 rs.
