can you explain Classes of amps briefly!! and how are they classified??

Well a crossovers basic fuction is to direct certain band of frequencies to each driver. So that the sound reproduction is realistic. Your LPF, HPF are also examples of crossovers. These could in an amplifier and also in a HU.

0-80Hz to Mid-Bass
80-300Hz to Mid-Range
300-3000HZ to Tweeter

im having few questions about distortion in sound...so someone answer them plz

1: if I had a woofer (400RMS) lets say 308d2 currently running on only 50-60RMS...and the
sound is having distortion in it so will it harm the woofer....?(distortion is only there on low notes of song)

2: what option am I having to remove the distortion?? (ofcourse WITHOUT changing my amp and pre )

With less powef u will always have issues. 50-60 watts? What amp are u using? What is the tuning of the box?

arslan bahi as such there is no problem...no coil heatup issues etc noting but just the low notes of the song feel distorted...
its a round ported box tuned at 34HZ..
and amp.......:-#its a desi amp:$:$..local made:$ used in home audio...
and the woofer is also in my room..connected with computer

again splfanatic is best suited to answer it but i'll give u some ideas. round ports require less space so consequently volume of the box (including port) is smaller than comparative L port box. meaning port displacement of round port is less than that of L port. but due to less surface area of a round port, you might face port noise and to overcome this u need precision aero ports that have flared ends. L port gives u long extensions to the bass whereas round port play much accurately.

the above is my understanding of the two. other might give u more help regarding it

so in short if i need wide range of bass notes to b played i need L ported box?

to play a wide range of note without boosting one particular note u need a sealed box. l ports usually play around 5 hertzs or so above and below there tuning frequency well

i would have to disagree based on my experience with computer subs, car subs and ht subs...

what i have noted is that not every driver is suited for a ported enclosure. having said that, if we put a high qts driver in a ported enclosure, it will most likely need a massive enclosure and still not attain the desired all-round playing capabilities. whereas almost all the ported subs used in music systems are low Q subs, they can play the upper notes upto 120-180hz to perfectly blend in with the mid-drivers.

what i have noted is that not every driver is suited for a ported enclosure. having said that, if we put a high qts driver in a ported enclosure, it will most likely need a massive enclosure and still not attain the desired all-round playing capabilities. whereas almost all the ported subs used in music systems are low Q subs, they can play the upper notes upto 120-180hz to perfectly blend in with the mid-drivers.

thanku brothers i'll go for L box as Arslan bahi said it will play +-5HZ requency..
currently my boxex are tuned at 34HZ will it make any difference if i tune them to 38HZ my subs are kenwood 3012 DVC4ohms...

Yes,
Tunning frequency from 36hz~38hz gives great response for pioneer and kenwood entry level subs...!

You should go for the following tunning frequency with mdf wood enclosure lined with polyfill,it will make a big difference...!

desi amps amplify noise more than the sound signal itself (low snr). they also distort the sound more than dedicated amps for subs.

imho...3012 isnt suited for a vented enclosure as fas as near-flat response is concerned.
having used it, i think its a 1cu.ft. box-stuffed-with-all-the-polyfill-you-can-get kinda sub...

Ashan bahi i dont want to spend money for the time being and want to do "guzara" with the stuff im already having so i need some ideas to reduce distortion like adding some kinda crossover.. (A)(A) if its possible

hmmm okay, why dont you make a separate thread mentioning complete specs of your system from headunit till woofers and everything in between including which connecting wires are used etc etc. i dont want to pollute the audio guide with my problem solving mashwaray. im sure many people will pitch in.
