Automatic Transmission Fluid Replacement - Estima Lucida

I have a toyota lucida that has problems changing into higher gears, would you have any idea what could be causing the problem? i know its gearbox related issue and not the ECU as i have swapped ECU and tested.

no its not shifting into top gear, its only driving using 1st and 2nd

assuming everything is correctly connected, check the resistance of the shift solenoids, they should be 14 ohms each. You have 3 of them

2 for shifting through 4 gears (4th being O/D)
1 for convertor lockup.

remember that the engine temperature needs to register at a minimum of 75⁰C and speed of minimum 60 km/h to engage O/D and lockup. You can manually force the transmission to shift through the solenoid wiring, you need to build a wiring set some switches for this.

After market water temperature gauge that i have installed with probe on the head near cylinder 4 has to be at 90 degrees or above otherwise it wont shift to top.

Need some guidance My Corona is leaking ATF from the sump and im also considering of getting the transmission flushed and fluid changed my car has a Toyota A245E ECT and the car has around 210,000 km's on it So my question is which ATF to use ? Which is the most efficient way to remove it ? should i change the transmission filter too or simply clean it and put it back ? Also any particular things/parts I should be looking out for ?

best fluid for this box is D2D and usually I could buy a 10 litre pack of it packed by Emarat (buying toyota dexron is a waste of money), and if you had it out of the vehicle it would have been very wise to replace the main oil pump housing seal, the convertor seal and the output flange seal. They are known leak points on this transmission that occur after 100,000 kms.

bro for what purpose these magnets are there in chamber? i opened that chamber of mine carby cultus mated automatic transmission but didnot found any magnets in there. is there any harm to transmission? and now its again leaking and oil also seems brown now need to change it still finding that Emarat ATF but no luck, is that DX2,DX3,DX4 the dipstick shows Dx2.
if you can locate their number for me then i can ask them its availability in islamabad.
earlier when i changed oil i puted in a local manufactued atf named WARCO type A fluid and many kms i was moving like a snail on the road. costed me rs250 per liter.
bro now im thinking that as this oil replacement job is expensive and the rising fuel prices im thinking to put 5 forward manual transmission which came with this carby engine with its own drive axles and original engine mountings too, to put in as the altered drive axels cv joints worn out too early and engine mountings too it is going expensive to maintain this and alot of troubles u know.

DO NOT USE type A fluid in a box designed for dexron spec. You can buy Dexron 3 spec fluid very easily in Pakistan, caltex, emarat, total, shell, Fuchs, ZIC etc all sell it.

For the magnets - they are to catch any ferrous particles in the transmission that are shaven off as regular wear. Some trans have them some dont, you can put one or two there yourself. Remove them from a hard disk. I did that on my Mercedes, it does not have magnets from the factory so I installed one.

Make sure you install it somewhere where it wont be near some other steel part - in my case the valve body is in 2 large parts, and one part is shallow so I stuck it on the pan in that vicinity.

Brother this is Toyota genuine A/T oil backward compatible with Lexus old models like LS400 etc. Will cost you 1100 rs / litre from Saddar.

It is better to use the recommwnded oil for the transmission you have. As i know T-iv is not backward compatible to replace D-ii but D-iii can replace D-ii

kick that shop in the goolies - 1100 is about 11 dollars at litre, which is robbery, I can buy it @ 4 dollars a litre at any toyota dealer in houston - MEANING - that you should be able to buy it at about 400/litre or a max of 500/litre - the prices remain the same worldwide.

There are many other ATF that can be used in place of this T-IV ATF now. For exact replacement you can look for Mobil or Shell 3309 ATF - which was the original factory fill.

thank you bro will change its ATF after my exams, i think caltex pump got ATF selling as texamatic dont know price but will get some info about as soon as i get free. well btw how many liters will be required for complete ATF change? and do i need to take out the transmission for complete oil change or chamber and axle joint is enough to drain out a single drop in it.
btw i already took out HDD magnets for this purpose.
one thing more is that it gear work like L,D,D2,N,R,P. so in forward L is the first gear and when one gear gets maximum rpm i have to manually shift its lever for next gear like manuals do please tell whats missing in it so it does not shifts itself the other car i drive is daewoo racer automatic but when i put it to D gear it changes all its 3 forward gear itself.

for full atf change remove the cooler output line and put a pipe on it then put it into a bucket, drain 3 litres at a time and fill. If you do a pan drop fill it with fresh then do a cooling and engine startup - you get about 95% of the ATF out of the transmission. DO NOT LET THE PUMP RUN DRY, once you have put back the exact amount the pump pumped out subtracting it from the pan fill you are done.

Xulfiqar bhai yaha 22,000 USD ki Toyota Camry aur Accord bhi 11 M Rupees ki sell hoti hein.

Unfortunately Mobil, Shell and Caltex are not offering that formulation.

All other major brands like Amsoil, Valvoline are either not available or are available at few selected shops.

Can u please guide if Dexron-III will work ?
