Average Engine Life of a car

i think earlier engine manufacturers claimed a life of 100,000 miles i.e 160K Km, honda then stated to claim that their engines last 200,000 Km

lately no manaufacturer put claims on engine life perhaps may be people dont keep their cars for so long in western countries

mostly nowadays manufacturers claim longer maintenance cycles

40,000km is the longest mainatenance cycle i have heard of for a holden - no chnage required not even oil. crazy to think of but that was in a program i saw on tv - but still seems exagrated.

Well maintained Petrol /diesel Engine=350,000-400,000 Km

if use orignal oil,fuel and air filters and oil change after every 1500-2000km done.
(with A/C 1500, without A/C 2000).

My Father use to have
Nissian Bluebird 1979
model in Riadah(Saudia) and was driven for more than
Six Hundred Thousand Kilometers(600.000km)
without any engine overhaulin.

i know of a mitsubishi lancer with a 4D- 68 engine doing a million kms. the guy had his own petrol pump and always used pure fuel and lubricants. now beat that.
reputition of this engine is to hardly cross 100k kms.
average still lies around 200k kms

I thought the whole point in using semi or fully synthetic oils was better protection for your engine so longer service intervals.

For people having over 200,000km, what oil are u using and how often u change?

av 1600cc engines , good maintance reach 200k with ease. i have two toyota engines and 1 honda engine with ard 100k.. and are going ok, without probs.

oil changed when color goes dark,, and starts losing its viscocity.,, normally synt lubricants last way longer

@levin.....What engine oil change interval do u suggest for a semi-suynthetic zic oil used in a car which is driven very carefully i mean no high reving or anything........... and it's a new car..........

Engine life cannot be quantified. If I wanted i could blow an engine in 2 minutes, or make it last 2 decades.

Bhai during car service , they wash engine with water in pakistan... Has bad effect on engine life?? If so how??
My mehran vxr used by me from day 1 consumes half a litre of oil at 1lac 5 k kms.. used with AC on all time... And many long trips to hilly areas.. changed oil, oil filter and air filter every 3000 km.. regular gear oil, brake oil changed... Used toyota genuine coolant throughout..But consuming oil at this much low mileage has taken to my heart... Disappointed to get such low mileage before engine is worn.. Used suzuki 10w40 initially, then total 10w40, then switched to zic 10w40 ...and now when it started reducing oil.. put 20w50 zic SN... And at half a litre loss, shifted to 20w50 havoline SG.. I wonder if anything went wrong.. @Xulfiqar

Engine Life

Can some 1 share his knowledge of engine life (how many kilometers a car can do with a good driver without getting engine overhauled ) of 1- Suzuki Max (100,000) KM 2- toyota Max (300,000) KM 3- honda Max (500,000) KM i might be wrong but please share the knowledge
