Axio 2007 CVT Oil Change

The oil quantity is according to company recommendation-don't overfilled and I am using oem genuine filter.

One thing I want to tell you that Recently dipstick was broken and I bought from junk yard for my current engine.

Time to drain it again.

I am looking to drain maximum fluid and replace the same without sump/pan removal.

If I drain CVT fluid in morning, the car sitting overnight and without warming up the engine (and tranny fluid), would I be able to drain more?

I would not suggest do a cold drain - the oil is thicker and is settled out, meaning the bad stuff in it will probably stay in the sump when you dont take it out.

Do a drain when its hot, to get the maximum fluid out - do this procedure two times with a 2 day driving period in between.

Cold drain would be okay if I were to open the pan? I have procured the CVT oil pan gasket and planning to do the replacement in a couple of days when get free.

What should be used to clean up the pan properly? i.e. matti da tail would be okay? Petrol? Or something else?

It go okay. lol. No pix unfortunately as did it alone and was occupied with the process. Did on cold. Opened up the pan this time. 5 liters replaced. The same amount came out.

Ah, how's the shifting now? Need to replace mine as well, it's been 30k km's since last change. Checked temp through techstream?

Have not felt the difference TBH as last time i.e. changing it after like 5-6 years of car's life. I suppose the oil still had life in it. Shifting has always been smooth this being CVT. I did make a trip with old CVT oil to check the temperatures and oil pressure but yet to take one with the new oil to record the numerical difference and compare.

Are you noticing anything out of the ordinary on yours?

Do you have the 4 liter tin pack price of Toyota CVT TC from the last time? I was quoted 6000 PKR by Toyota 3S.

5000 PKR from outside while the oil pan gasket was for 1500 (from outside ofcourse).

Nah, don't have the can. Threw it the last time I changed the oil and it cost 4k or 5k but that was like 2yrs back I think

Today i have changed CVT OIL of my toyota axio luxel 1.8 2wd.
The mechanic drained all the fluid and also cleaned the filter plate in oil chamber.
After putting around 3 ltrs or may be a little bit more upto the drain nut or oil check level till the oil comes out,when i started my car and shifted the gear,the gear take 2 3 secs delay to engage.
When i drive the car then my gear produces weird noice like grrrrr and like gear is slipping.
I asked mechanic what the hell is this happening he told me that drive the car 1 or 2 day and then come for check up.
Please help me out what is this happening.
Also few days before when i go to some suspension work and axle change,the same noice come out that day but next day when i moved my car there were no noice.
Please expert opinions required.

Is the noise still there? You need to go to some shop or to Toyota to calibrate the CVT oil pressure. I believe it should be done after fresh CVT fluid. Which CVT is present in your car? Tell the code. In 1.5 Axio, 4 liters CVT oil needs to be filled when the sump and filter is removed.

You should never drain a cvt completely, I mean NEVER.. Over time the wear and tear on the components increase the tolerances and more friction is required so the old cvt oil works perfectly fine, But when you drain the old oil and replace with a fresh oil the pressure plates(?) slips and fail to transfer the energy to the driver train.

I dont think I can buy that even with a fat rishwat and dinner thrown in.

The pressure plates slipping is usually a deal seen in clutch packs of regular automatics and fresh fluid killings them are due to changing the fluid of a completely dead unit. The old fluid actually was the friction material for the unit.

in a CVT you already have a lot of friction going on on the belt and pulleys.
