The boys are now v much in trouble... i've talked to them at 9 pm my frnd told me that they have even no money for buy something to eat. The police officials told them that they arrest one of them nd searching for others but u ppl know that there is only a few percent chance for getting money or their mob phones back. @abas786 dear it is not the part of traveling anyway... we not travel to get looted our self in those type of areas... nd if u dont mind what type of precautions should be taken for trekking or other traveling, its not joke or i'm not poking at you but really wanna know what type of precautions u mentioned above..?

In my opinion it is done by Kohistanis coz kaghan ppl are earning more than being looted. There are many tracks that are joining valley at different places so it is not possible to install security all places. Yes ! security must be increased after these incidents. But I think a '' worry free '' tour is not possible in whole north as it was earlier. Every body should take precautous measures before planning any tour in north regarding law and order.

I would request you all to share some precautionary and safety/security tips for the benefit of all tourists going to these areas which are now becoming increasingly insecure, not only for valuables but for life and honour as well.

Here are Some Necessary Precautions;

• Be a smart traveller, never put all your eggs in one basket (literally). Keep your money and valuables in at least two separate places.
• Never carry large sums of cash on short treks and excursions (eg Saif ul Malook, Dudipatsar etc.) Keep valuables in a hotel safe if possible.
• Exercise a high degree of caution in these areas due to the threat of terrorism and uncertain security situation.
• Pay close attention to your security at all times, be vigilant and monitor local sources (and if possible radio and news sites on mobile internet) for information about possible new safety or security risks.
• Law and order in the Kohistan region is especially unpredictable as criminal and armed groups operate in this region. Tourists visiting the popular lakes (Saif ul Malook, Dudipatsar etc.) and Nanga Parbat region have occasionally been victims of crimes such as theft, robbery and even murder (Nanga Parbat 22 June).
• Beware of illegal roadblocks and enforced strikes (Chilas region) that occur without notice and may continue for lengthy periods resulting in the closure of businesses and vehicles not being allowed on the roads.
• Check weather forecasts while planning your tour as torrential rains can cause landslides (KKH and Neelum Valley are highly prone) and catastrophic flash floods (Remember Kalam, Swat).
• In Neelum Valley avoid travelling on Rocket buses which are generally overcrowded and poorly maintained (at least till Keran), as it is potentially dangerous and there are frequent bus accidents with multiple fatalities.
• You should never trek alone as there have been occasional reports of trekkers being robbed or assaulted.

sir i dont think so that there is any precautions for such kind of work.. they robbed them with ease they have enough time so whether u put your eggs in one basket or in many baskets they gonna be snatched.
for saif ul malook aansoo and dudipatsar one should have at least 10k to 15k in his pocket cuz there is no atm or banks in those areas. To kese ap bacha sktay hyn khud ko..? jb ap k bag bhi le jayen jackets b or wallets bhi. and what about cell phones you know now a days everyone got a smart phone in his pocket even me i used my cell phone to capture my trips so what next..?
road blocks and weather are other issues...
in my opinion money should be kept in inner wears such like leggings may be its sound crazy but my friend put his mobile in legging and his mob is only thing which is saved...!

Best precaution is "don't go for trekking in these areas which are quite lonely and no communication is present". Now a days people are hungary due to governament bad policies and unemployement. We have never seen these things before. In USA also black people are doing these activities of looting frequently. Police don't catch them despite of having CCTV footage until and unless they commite any murder or major injury. This was surprising fact for me.

good tips but if theft is so common then one should carry fire arm as well for safety

When i start reading this thread i also feel sad and still feel that it should not happened.

when i keep continue reading i feel amazed the way we react. its just like kay choti si ***** lagay or hum marnay ka rona daal dian.
sath hi Pakistan pay batain, desperations etc etc.

A chowki must be established(during tourist season) at this kind of isolated places like saif ul maluk, aanso lake, dodi patsar, deosai, fairy meadows ( areas specially around chilas and kohistan). Road checking will not as beneficial coz these ppl usually travel on mountains tracks. An intelligence system should be established to identify such kind of culprits. ............................Tourists should avoid night stays or travel at such kind of places where incidents are happened or likely to happen. We can only make precaution, otherwise any incident can happen in front of our house or inside our house(may ALLAH save us all)
