Once you reach Kalam on your car (be it Grande or Civic - I agree Grande has comparably better ground clearance) you will be pleased to see a lot of cars, of all sizes, over there.

Be prepared that the car may be hit by some stone from underneath, even at that slow speed, but due to slow speed it should not cause any damage or trouble in my opinion.

we are visit kalam in July Bahrain to Kalam road is vary bad condition, you should park your car in bahrain and take jeep from there

Came back from Kalam last night, went there on my Grande, the road is actually a pain in a** but its not that difficult for cars, however requires lots of careful driving and patience as this 35 Km takes around 3 hrs.. Road till bahrain is very good, They have made a new road that bypasses Mingora and takes you directly to Madyan Bahrain through Matta... excellent road and better views as compared to the old one

No sir. They are only fixing roads inside kalam town, which are wrongly posted by many on social media as kalam road.
The project on bahrain-kalam road (aka expressway) is in pipelines, but ground work not started yet.

In 2016 I went to Neelam Valley in my 2015 Altis 1.6 and it hit ground many times. Decided to hire Jeeps from Sharda and that was good decision. In 2017 before going to Naran, Hunza and Khunjrab, I decided to increase ground clearance. Talked to a denter who fixed it in PKR 2000 only. Alluminium packing under front shocks and rubber padding in rear. Clearance increase by 1.5 to 2 inches. The car did not hit ground anywhere throughout the tour.

I did not remove packing after coming back but it can be easily removed. I suggest Toyota owners can adopt this strategy before going to Kalam.

Agreed went there in september as well it took us three hours to reach while driving at 10 km/hr but yeah you gotta be really patient or have good company.

Under construction, one way traffic at quite a few spots, takes quite long to get there and the road is like before

Dont have the latest updates about the road condition... but till July 2018 it was in pretty bad shape,... specially for cars (if you have a SUV/Crossover it was ok...but for car it was a test).

Currently road from Bahrain to Kalam is under construction at 20 places. All road is broken.

The youtube videos which we see , we can't make judgement on them as they are old videos and now the road is BROKEN up because of construction. Before construction it was quite manageable as can be seen in the videos.

Our NCP car 1998 corolla (rented) was hit minimum 50 times from underneath. only take your car if you want to save 4000 otherwise spend the 4000 on rent of the car. Prepare to spend minimum 7 hours (going and coming back)

In view of prevalent road condition not advisable to travel in own car from Bahrain to Kalam. I understand road is now under construction. I lastly traveled two years back and road was not good.

I visited in march 2019.

There was a lot of snow which started half way to Kalam. The 4000 I paid was better then spending twice that for my car repair. The NCP cars over there have raised shocks and tall tires and still it is not enough currently. The current road to Kalam from Bahrain is the one which the people made themselves and then the same was paved by the government. The older road which ran quite near to the river was wiped out.

It might have been okay to take your car to Kalam a year back but not now
