While i know and acknowledge that you are a frequent poster on Pakwheels and an old member, i cannot agree with the religion part......religion has nothing to do with teaching and manners. If someone needs religion to teach/learn the very basic morals and empathy for another human being, which has become the nature of our psychology for a long time, then i am sorry, that person is just an ignorant PoS.
I don't need any religion to tell me that i should respect another person or obey the laws of the state. If religion was so important, then all the cut throat religious societies like 'Islamic Republic of Pakistan' would be the most highly ranked society in the world. Instead, every year, the best places to live, raise kids and retire, rankings are dominated by Nordic countries like Norway, Sweden, Denmark etc where religion has no say in national politics and merely has historical presence.
Land at the Copenhagen airport and you can see the sign read 'Welcome to the world's happiest nation'
The wrong in our Pakistani society stems from problems that Xulfiqar has already stated; basically, the 'rich' think that money can buy anything......which is true in this part of the world.
Look at our saithya corporations, sons and daughters automatically become heir to the family business, whether they have management experience or not, doesn't matter. Meanwhile, the same saithyas who chant 14th August Happy Independence slogans every year to push their revenues up, are first in line to avoid paying taxes, finding every loophole to make more money by hook or by crook.....what kind of kids do you think they will raise?
Every Pakistani i meet is very patriotic and absolute momin level religious when it comes to offering advice. Yet, you don't have to travel far on the roads or to a local market to find out why the nation is where it is. We are a morally bankrupt nation, properly ignorant.
If you think blonde jokes are funny, wait till you hear 'elite class' Pakistani women talk.
