well i vote for bmw because here in Islambad u will see more bmws than mercedes and mercedes sucks 7 series wins look the intertior of 7 series its the best. hey people i am not taking sides ok cooz i have 760 li 2006 but bmw simply rocks

BMW all the way, but only if you like to drive. Merc has MUCH better styling though, the 6- and 7-series both look horrible.

mercs are highly engineered prestige cars,. but now days most manufacturers have caught up, and are offering state of the art extras, and options like, (adaptive cruise control,keyless entry,head up displays etc etc).....................................

where as there will on ever be one,...... "THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you forgot to mention that MB's are "engineered like no other car" as their old slogan goes.

Also they (MB) have always been at the forefront of safety and technology since the 60's

in recent J.D POWER SURVEYS (independent),. mercs have consistently finished below bmws, and at the bottom of the tables,.. check the web,......................................... sEe yA !

no doubt the american benzes (ML) are at the bottom of the survey, and for sure BMW's have improved alot since the 90's and MB has slipped since then but that is all about to change....

I shoudl also point out that the america BMWs were pretty dismal as well (Z3)

.... P.S.. I OWN NEITHER OF THE CARS,. NEVER HAD A MERC, HAVE DRIVEN A COUPLE, AND HAD A 525i LONG TIME AGO!!!!! (about 12 years ago!),. so aint really biased towards either of them, (as a owner would be),. but t do read a lot of car mags, and get info off the net, and bmw are always classed as "CLASS LEADERS" of the competive executive class category....... personally i prefer the AUDI's above merc and bmw's,.......................................... theyre more individual, and have the perfect balance between sportyness & prestige,.............................................................ps, storm,......... the clouds are lifting, and its a clear day,........ ; )

well at least we can agree on one thing (audi) if nothing else. I agree that BM's tend to win over MB's but that also has alot to do with the image MB's have.

honestly speaking thought if you HAD to choose a midrange mid priced car (say a 530d or E320CDI) both filly loaded which one would you go for?

M,mmmmmmm lets see..... bmw's ergonomics are class leading, and as when driving you dont see the car,. it would have to be the bangle designed 5 series,............................ and your self ???? dont say the gs430..............

i already had this dilemma, ended up going for the E320. No doubt the BMW 5 series is a sweet car, but for some reason i'm stuck on mercs.

BTW in my eyes i see the two brands as the following.

BMW=Young and sporty/ cutting edge design
MB=Distiguished/old/frumpy

Bottom line is that generally i've found benz owners to be more friendly people, BMW owners tend to have a chip on their shoulder (have seen this in PK, UK & CH).

Plus it's more entertaining to see a merc powersliding....
