You either go for the engine performance or fuel economy. In my view, you can get a similar fuel average on 1.6 if you drive on the highway. However, if you take short trips on 1.6 then the fuel average will be bad.

Personally, I would never opt for a Gli as it is out of my league.

Gli has bad mileage than altis anyday. Its the biggest misconception that gli is economical than altis bhai.

This is true for automatic GLi.
If z06 brother has manual Altis 1.8 2009 then he must go for manual GLi or Honda City 1.3 manual , no questions on that.
If he wants auto, however then he must go for either Suzuki Cultus automatic or Toyota passo.
In hybrids, Aqua and Prius are recommended.
Do consider Honda hybrids as well.

i have Altis 1.8 Auto with average of 7-8 and if i use with a very very light paddle it is 9-11
i dont have budget for a new car like city or corolla and i think i would go for a new alto because i may get it easily because if i try to look for good city or corolla it will be atleast 15-17 lac
right?

i agree on this 100%
I have drove my 1.8 altis auto on motorway while i was driving from khi to isb
no comparison with 1.8 and the fuel average was 15-18km
but only problem is within city where i use my car

Sell your Altis 1.8 auto and buy GLi 1.6 or Altis 1.6 automatic 2013 model
Because
1. Euro 2 and 1.6 engine will improve fuel average in city. You will get at least 11 kmpl.
2. You will not feel that much power difference.
3. You only have to add maximum 2 lacs.
