Best Engine Oil (5W-30) for Toyota Passo ( 1KR-FE)

after changing oil to 5w30 i discovered that the milage dropped drastically

Brother regarding bad fuel efficiency, trust me, engine oil is not the culprit!

Logically, morally, technically, ethically, etc. speaking, whenever you switch from thick to thin engine oil, fuel efficiency will always increase! provided all other parameters and conditions are kept same / constant.

Yes, if all other conditions are kept same, fuel efficiency may decrease by 2-4 kmpl in summers, with AC ON!

If you are sceptical, get your vehicle checked from some good and reputed garage.

The problem here is you were incorrectly measuring the CITY mileage.

You don't get 20km/L in city.. no way. Unless you're driving on empty ISB roads at 50 speed.

Even then you cannot get 20km/l avg from Honda City. I used to own 2017 Honda City bought it brand new and sold it after driving 65k kms. The most i got was 16km/l that too on speeds of 80-90km/h on motorway. If Honda City gives 20 or 22km/l people will stop buying Aqua and Prius

I think he meant driving with Passo within a city.

That's what I was referring to, nobody gets 20km/liter with a Passo in typical Pakistani city conditions, stop and go traffic plus congestion and low fuel quality.

Switched from "Zic 5w20" to "Total Quartz 5W30" to "Valvoline 5W40" in three consecutive oil changes... and fuel average dropped from 17 to 15 (NO AC). I am expecting that oil reduction will stop with 5W40... but at the cost of dropped fuel avg. BTW, anyone else used Valvoline oil product in their vehicles?

You should have switched to 10w-30 (preferably by Caltex / Havoline, and which is easily available here locally) instead of 5w-40.

I have been same issue with my 2009 passo 126k milage... Engine reduced oil by 500 to 750 ml... On a same note i moved from 5w30 to 10w 40 shell but reduction is still there... But since its been a yr so i stick with the same grade

1kr reduces around 1l in 5000 kms. Nothing to worry about. Stick with 5w30.

If no, then engine can be considered healthy.

My suggestion would be to use fully synthetic 10w-40 by ZIC. Best for bucks IMO.

Just ensure that oil is 100% genuine and original.

You can choose either 10w-30 by Caltex / Havoline, or 10w-40 by ZIC. Both are value for money oils IMO.

Then I would suggest Fully Synthetic 10w-40 by ZIC. Just ensure that oil is 100% genuine and original.

And GOD Forbid, if this smoke problem increases, then you might need to have your car's engine rebuilt / overhauled from some reasonable mechanic.

Switching to thick engine oils will not be a solution.
