Did you try changing picture modes on both televisions? Did you checked picture quality using your own content or the factory CD which all showrooms use?
99% of the people don't realize but TVs have two settings. One is for showroom and one is for home usage. Then again within home usage, there are different picture and sound modes e.g. My TV has 4 picture modes + 1 custom picture mode, and 4 sound modes + 1 custom sound mode. Comparing 2 TVs side by side on showroom setting (which everyone does) is not advisable and never results in an accurate and realistic comparison. Secondly if one is comparing picture quality in home usage mode, check all picture modes. If still someone is not satisfied, you can chose your own settings in custom mode and fine tune the picture quality to your liking. Thus in custom mode, you can tune picture quality to perfection.
For me when it comes to TVs, its features which matters the most and PQ on high end brands like Samsung/Sony/Panasonic is nearly same. What matters is MKV compatibility via USB. This is a life saver feature for people like me who extensively watch HD movies and TV shows. I simply download movies/tv shows from internet, copy paste them onto my USB Hard drive and plug it into my Samsung 6 series LCD tv and viola! EVERY format runs! Not so in Sony LCDs (not even the latest ones). Then comes the internet function. I can browse internet via ethernet cable on my LCD, watch youtube clips and various other built-in functions in the Samsung LCD. Via, firmware update, one can even rent movies online using Netflix and watch them directly on Samsung LCD without any need for computer/laptop! These are just 2 of the amazing features Samsung have. And then again not to mention that Samsung LCDs/LEDs look the sexiest.
I current have a Samsung LCD, and whenever I have to purchase again in future, it will be Samsung for sure!
