My Uncle(chcha) who also happens to be my father in law has also been granted this permit under 100% disability. This is going to be his forth duty free car under this scheme. Previously he had two Corrolas and a Mitsubishi Lancer.
This time the cars under this scheme will not be entirely duty free. The waiver on the duty is only 60%. So the permitees will have to pay the remaining 40% of the duty.
I visited one of the Toyota dealers accompanied by my uncle for the information on import of any Toyota Vehicle below 1350cc under this scheme. To our utter disapointment we came to know that Toyota Indus Motor company is the only distributor of brand new(zero meter) cars in Pakistan. So any brand new Toyota car that comes in this country will have to indented by IMC. According to the owner of the dealership Toyota Japan does not offer any 1300cc improted car to Pakistan. So what he meat was that we had only three options available wid us from Toyota.i Corrola GLiii Corrola XLiiii Diahatsu Core
If you do opt to buy a corrola the rebate that you are going to get is 60% of the total import duty on the CKD that IMC imports.Cutting it short, the net impact that this exemption will have on the price of a local assembled car will not be more than 10% of the total market price, so you do the math urself.
What I personaly feel is that any Toyota is out of the window. We need to look at other options.
Keeps us posted.
Who said that they are expensive & difficult to find ? What do you need ? It's not like your going get into a accident or something everyday (God forbid). The normal parts which you need to replace periodically eg: Air filter's, Oil filter's etc are avaliable easily and are not expensive at all.
Why this relaxation for disabled persons? I mean I dont get the point...its a car...not some medical equipment..?
Sir senior citizens and elderly persons who cannot use any part of their leg or arm with full power can also drive.
These cars have special equipment installed.
regards
