I agree with you on the parent thing. I was schooled in Botswana, and I still remember it as those years were great, Going over it now, I can see that whatever they were trying to do was to build a confident personality in every child - and they did. My parents did their job to their best too.

It was really hard for me as a kid to go to school where no-one spoke urdu, yet I caught up perfectly with the help of home, and I remember a little scribble book that my mom made us write on in urdu and forcing us proper pronunciation of "kaaf" and "qaaf" and showing us the finer things in life, e.g. safari, hunts, us walking ourselves back from school - even when my dad had chauffers with MBs at his disposal.

We used to earn our toys - me usually items that needed assembling and building, and we were more intersted in pestering with wildlife - like following a scorpion to its den and then peeing on it. Or kicking an ant hill and running away - rather than playing videogames, I think its because we lived in such a place. Heck our sciences teacher had a class full of jars with dead snakes in them.

Yet all of us kids did not care who was coming in what car, or whos dad does what for a living or who has more pocket money, If one was a bully he got disciplined good in the yard no matter if his dad was the president of the country.

regarding my similar age group in Pakistan, I found Habibians to be of great character with great sportsmanship qualities and gems of personalities, but the batch quality gradually went downwards with the passing years, I dont know where in time what happened that caused such collapse. City and other piggy bank schools offering cambridge education via private candidate registration were always a joke.

Botswana....Wow. You are the second person i know, in my life to be from there...haha...

But yes whenever i go back home and i look at my younger cousins/friends/their siblings struggling with their grades....there is one thing common across all of them..........and that is the unlimited access they have to technology, which they neither need nor do they understand ......cellphones/laptops (add Facebook, twitter, Justin Bieber to all of that ).

I was educated at Beaconhouse for all the 13 years of my school life. For nursery i went to DHA and then shifted to some other town for Kindergarten (my dad got a transfer) for a year or so. But in Karachi i studied at Beaconhouse. It was a very good school and i completed my O levels and A levels with high honors. However, as i feel, even their standard has gone down and all private schools are now about charging money and that's it. I would recommend that you get your son admitted to a good school for now like Beacon or City, but as he grows up, try to get him to Karachi Grammar School. I don't know the exact classes they have admissions for... but i think they take students for their Saddar (junior) branch and then in grade 8,10 and A levels. You can try going for their kindergarten section on boat basin as well. Please go to their place and ask. KGS is a very good school, though often associated with 'Burger school' they still fare better in terms of grades, sports etc. Those are the things that take you further in life.

Everyone in Pakistan is concerned about educating their kids and above all if you want your sons/daughters to excel in life, they must get proper schooling and perhaps go abroad, on scholarships/funding. That is the ultimate dream of any parent.

All i want you to know is that what ever school you send your kids to, make them switch later on. Maybe St Patricks, Beaconhouse, Karachi Grammar or Habib Public. But also make sure that you raise your kids properly, teach them all the languages with as much passion as you would want them to learn English.

I hail from Punjab so Punjabi, Urdu and English, make me tri-lingual....a big big advantage over so many others when you are living abroad.

liberal yes they are but i believe thats where parents upbringing and they way they raise there kids take there part , what i feel in this all scenerio that its a race of kids and parents every one wants the best future , but sadly not every one can get it , but i do believe to set your grounds u need proper schooling and for proper schooling u have to go to those money making machine , they take money but they try there best to set there standard .
i have seen in england that people who raised there kids with goras when they are outside especially the girls they wear proper hijab infact better hijab our women do here so i believe its not about europe , Usa or being too liberal its about how u raise your kids yes what goes around u does matter but than its parents responsibilty to correct what going wrong , i hope i make my point clear , thanks a lot for your suggestion hdaackda i really appreciate it , i will go to The generations aswell and see if there admissions are open .

My son goes to Generations and its a very good school, would really recommend it. They really dont have commercial aspirations and are only going to keep a primary campus. BTW, they dont have Playgroups but start in Pre-Nursery. Do pay them a visit, admissions start in about a weeks time.

Lols. Yes u can. Like a post mentioned, UK might have more conservative muslims than here, but in very low numbers.
But I am talking about probability.
For e.g. I studied in kgs.. for probability, out of 100 kids, let's say 25 were extremely liberal (drinking, parties etc), 70 in between and hardly 5 conservative.. just a rough informal estimate, but u get the idea..

And ofcourse, the MOST important part us HOME. If parents do good grooming, usually the child turns out to be a good person.. so never neglect parenting..

dream or nightmare of every parent, My lil cousin was in that school, (his family is kind of show-off, falana fallana) - anyway - I used to help him sometimes with his homework etc. On PTM day my aunt requested that I attend it in lieu of them, she called up and all was good.

When I got to this meeting, all lady teachers were dressed to the nines, dolled up by a salon, speaking urdlish with no sense of punctuation, pronunciation or even accent manners. When I asked about why their classes more focussed on projects, carnivals etc while all the boys are wearing their pants below their buttocks, and girls are wearing skin fit clothing - and as a whole they lack sportsmanship, confidence and also common sense and manners - they had no answer to it.

Agree 100% PAF city chapter, Beacon House, City school etc are making an army of young Pakistanis who can speak English (not the mannered one) who watch p o r n at night on their computers and do it in their schools in the day time.

Also, Co-Education is a disease when children are past 12, from class 7th there should be No co-education.

Lol. It is difficult because of demand and supply.. I teach higher classes hence not definitely sure about the requirements, but they upload it on the website.. admission process starts in march.. age was important.

And they'll take kids interview (lols) and parents interview etc They are looking for confident kids and educated parents (preferably English speaking at home ).
