FRESH UPDATE:

MY TRIP TO CHINA BORDER HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED DUE TO A RELATIVE BEING IN CRITICAL CONDITION IN HOSPITAL.

LAST SATURDAY, AUG 23rd WE WERE READY TO LOAD THE BIKES AND HEAD OUT ON OUR TOUR FROM KARACHI TO CHINA BORDER BUT JUST BEFORE WE BEGAN LOADING OUR BIKES WE RECEIVED AN URGENT CALL THAT A RELATIVE HAS BEEN ADMITTED INTO ICU DUE TO LIVER FAILURE AND MAY REQUIRE A TRANSPLANT PROVIDING HE IS ABLE TO REGAIN CONSCIOUSNESS.

SO ALL THIS WEEK WE HAVE BEEN PRAYING FOR HIS RECOVERY SO THAT HE IS WELL ENOUGH TO GET THE TRANSPLANT DONE.

THE TRIP WILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL AFTER HIS RECOVERY. I REQUEST ALL READERS OF THIS THREAD TO PLEASE PRAY FOR HIS SPEEDY RECOVERY.

Its good to hear ap or ap k friends ne meri journey ki story enjoy ki.

As you may know that I am planning another trip to the North which was to begin tonight.

We are 5 people on 3 Bikes (all GS 150) meri vohi 2012 ki ha lekin baqi 2 New han 2014 ki jo dono relatives na last month Ramazan ma khareedi han for this trip.

We had decided to ship our bikes by train from Karachi to Pindi and drive our car to Islamabad where we can leave it with relatives. Then pick up our bikes from the Station and load all our supplies and luggage and then leave on bikes from Islamabad to Naran, then cross the Babusar Top and reach Astore, visit Rama and then back to Astore as I had in my trip you just read. Then carry on to Deosai plains and then reach Skardu and then Gilgit, and carry on to Hunza Valley, and try reaching all the way to China Border at Khunjirab Pass. Then return back to Islamabad via the KK Highway, ship our bikes back via train and drive our car back to Khi.

BUT !!!

With the current situation in Islamabad and Pindi we don't know if we can enter Islamabad so we have now decided that we will be driving our Bikes directly from Karachi all the way up and avoid Islamabad and Pindi and head to Naran via Wah Cantt coming from DI Khan where we plan to stay with our relative which I already did in the trip you just read.

Ab ye travel thread bara time le ga lekin keep looking for my new thread once I am back and begin writing about it in late Sept or Early October.

Nothing serious regarding travel to north on bikes...i confirmed from the authorities...i am also going to Chitral on bike in the first week of september...chitral to gilgit..hunza

If you look through Google Images for "Saiful Maluk", you will see this lake.

Its NOT Saiful Maluk. Its called "Moraine Lake" situated in Jasper National Park.

Just thought I should share this with you since many people believe this lake is Saiful Maluk when they search for it online.

Yes, I think this would be a good medium in communicating to others where such safety gear could be purchased as I also think it would be quite useful for a long drive. Actually, they would come in useful on a common daily commute as well but I wonder how practical that would be on a daily commute.

In any case, if you or any other member on PW knows where to get such elbow and knee pads I would appreciate it if they could let us know.

Main night duty ker k aaya hu and bhoot sanwar hey mind sunnnn ho raha but main cellphone nahe chor rha.. amaxing trip . Inspiring but i am afraid if my 100cc junoon can cover this distance or i have to upgrade to gs150.

I am sure junoon can do this easily. There is one brother on pakwheel named gull_s_777 who used junoon for very long drives many times with no problem.

I am not all that familiar with bikes. I just happened to purchase a GS 150 two years back and its been wonderful to me on long journeys.

But I have seen people on mostly 125 and some even Honda 70. On my current trip after Eid to Kunjerab I met a boy from Lahore in Naran on a Ravi which I think is also 100 cc though I could be wrong. It was his very first trip and surprisingly enough, he recognized me from my PW thread, this very thread. He said after reading this thread he was inspired to take the trip and so he only went to Babusar Top and then came back. He came with some of his other PW friends.

He gave me his name and PW Name as well but for the light of me I can't remember it now. I am sure he will comment on this thread sooner or later and remind me who he was.

So I believe you can do it on a 100 cc so long as you have it tuned up and the right tire pressure with good oil you should have no problems.
