Bike Trip to Gilgit, Khunjerab and Skardu June 2015

In case you guys wondering what is written on this pass,

中华人民共和国 (Zhong Hua Ren Min Gong He Guo), which means "People's Republic of China"

Did i ever mention that i am "Elementary Level" Certified in Chinese.

Gateway to China. No permission to cross to other side. You can only go under the pass, not across it.

how come Chinese come accross the Gate and have pics here and you guys cannot go to take pictures ?

I guess China has built the Pass few feet into their territory, may be that's why.

There is no issue to cross the border, I with my friend crossed the border till half KM.

On the way to Naltar Lake, at one point Usman came to me and complained " yaar ye pridor to bohat slow ooper charr rahi hai, main to us ke peechay apnay rpm hi maintain nahi kar pa raha" and i was like" why on earth you guys are tailgating on this long empty track".
Told Usman either to be ahead of Pridor or maintain safe distance because 100cc will move at its own pace.

Reminds me off a convo in last Ziarat trip when @r1 asked me to stop and said "I think bike ka kuch toot gaya hai, gear se gar gar ki awaz arahi hai"

Then we inspected bike and i said randomly full charhai hai bike 2nd gear se opper ja he ni rahi.. to which he replied "Mein 4th gear me chala raha hoon, mein bhi kahoon bike gar gar q kar rahi hai"

And we started laughing

Dear guys, I am from Lahore and want to plan a trip to northern areas in first or second week of August. Have been following "Motor Cycle diaries" posts by different people and have been really inspired by there adventure and such an elaborate detail they have provided. Kudos to these guys.
Initially wanted to do a solo trip as none of my friends and family can spare time in August while I have all august off, but most of people advised me to not do a solo trip. Therefore I am asking here if any one is planning or want to include me in there group. Will be MUCH obliged.
I can also join bikers from Islamabad and beyond as I might stay there 2-3 days before continuing my journey north.
Awaiting a reply soon :).
P.S. I am not an experienced biker. Recently bought a GS-150 after 7 years gap when had a sprinter eco for almost 1.5 years. .
P.P.S not an experienced biker but a very experienced Traveler :p.

We were riding continuously and thought to get our tanks refilled just in case we don't get fuel from Besham. We stopped at few pump but no fuel. We kept moving and finally found fuel in Thakot.
After refill, continued to Besham and went through a checkpost on road.
No one waved at me to stop so i moved through, but suddenly heard my friend's bikes horns behind me. Looked back in the mirror and they were stopped at check post. I returned back to check post and policeman there started showing attitude that he stopped me and i ignored him. I felt angry but since we were in pardes so decided to play it cool. My friend tried to defend me by saying" sir us ko pata nahi tha" and in answer he showed the gun on his shoulder and replied" ye bandooq humain isi liyay dya hai na, hum peechay se goli maaray ga to sab pata chal jaayega"
Dil to kya ke " la lawan jutti te ho jaawan shuroo". what a dumbass.

Then he said" ye kaisa hulyaa bana kar jaa rahay ho, khunjerab pohanchnay se pehlay hi koi maar dalay ga". Now this one my friends took seriously and after reaching besham concluded that policeman was pointing out their pant shirt dresses. And they better use Shalwaar Qamis till they cross the Chilas.

Thats a dream trip u made. I was planning for the same from karachi (bikes booked on train to islamabad further on bikes ). Slow speed at turns and inclination noted. Please advise tools and spares and cautions

It was damn cold at the Pass and we hardly stayed for an hour there.
After taking snaps, we started our journey back and reached sost in 2 hours.

After having tea, we decided to visit dry port of Sost.

Then we came back to Sost town and there was still plenty of daylight left.

Usman and Imtiaz decided to have a snooker game with locals to kill the time.
It was fun, and Usman gave them hard time on their "Home Table" and won 1 game out of three.

That was it for the day. Next day plan was to reach back to Gilgit.
Our last fuel refill was from Ali Abad and bikes were still far from hitting the reserve.

Next morning, we took breakfast and departed back for Giglit.

Our first stop was Attabad Lake, and again the hassle of loading and unloading the bikes. I guess bypass tunnel is open now.

Since we had plenty of time left to make it to Gilgit, we decided to spend some time in Karimabad and ended up visiting "Altit Fort".
