@xulfiqarnot exactly true..
haan Now-a-days in pakistan
when people circumnavigated the globe in aircooled VWs it was also a cheap reliable car back then, its just that no-one trusts a corolla to last the journey in one piece.
We live about an hours drive away from the US. Crossing over into the Buffalo NY. from the Niagara Falls takes between 5 minutes to an hour depending on the time of day and the day itself. I found another VW show that involved about 2-1/2 hours of driving each way. The Finger Lakes Region Volkswagen Club, is a very well organized club with a very dedicated lady at the helm. Her grandfather made a fortune when he introduced indoor plumbing to the United States..(Yes, it was (and still is in some places) a norm to go to the "outhouse" to answer a call of nature). You may have seen the brand name "Sloan" on bathroom fixtures..yup same old man Sloan introduction saved the present day American from rushing to the outhouse or reaching for the chamber pot under the bed on a cold winter night. I e-mailed Joyce and she responded almost immediately and sent me the directions. On the day of the show, my nephew and my brother-in-law accompanied me . The sky was clear with not a cloud in the sky. It looked like a perfect day to attend a show. We crossed the border and suddenly the dark clouds covered the morning sun. A few minutes later the heavens opened. We hoped against hope that the rain clouds would clear as quickly as they had appeared but....We made it to the show site which was the parking lot of a public school (thankfully..so no mud) and parked Billo while we went to a diner across the road for a good tuck in of a country style breakfast. It didn't stop raining for another two hours as we waited. There was less rain and then there was more rain but there was not a moment when there was no rain! There were a few more die hards like us who had ventured probably with the same optimism that the weather would clear but most had probably looked out their bedroom window and decided to extend their snooze. Around noon, Joyce decided and announced the cancellation of the show, thanked everyone who had made it to the show and invited us to the show next year.
Enjoy the pictures. The super clean Karmann Ghia belongs to Joyce.

Marvelous ... marvelous ... marvelous
Thankyou for your words of encouragement. Stand-by for the next message. I just need to re-size the photos. Hopefully tonight.
Incredible!
The show season was coming to an end. There had hardly been a weekend when we didn't have something to do..be it a community event, a charity drive or just an evening get together with other classic cars at the local A&W burger. Billo received admiring looks and thumbs up wherever we went. I was thinking of what else we could do and WHAM!! I came up with an idea to raise some cash! I drafted an ad and put it in a free ads section and within days I had the first query. Basically I had offered to let Billo be the transport for the Bride and Groom at their special day.

<span style=[/IMG]For those of you who are not familiar with the set-up here in the west, lemme tell you that marriage is a dying tradition. More and more people have dispensed with the formality and just move in and start living together! In their opinion it is so much more convenient..no hassles, no bindings. One of the partners moves in with the other and they both live happily..until they get sick of each other (which does not take very long at times) This type of union or partnership is also recognized by the government and law. However there is still a minority who decides to follow the old tradition and formally get married. Getting married is an expensive affair and no expenses are spared. Among other things an essential is a limousine that transports the bride and groom to the church or the place of the ceremony. The couple who contacted me were getting married and wanted to use Billo as their wedding transport. I had done my homework and my demand was $125 per hour with a minimum of 3 hours. I couldn't allow anyone to drive off with Billo so I would play the chauffeur for the time Billo was engaged. The couple didn't blink! They wanted to engage us for 5 hours on the day of the wedding. It included the groom going to the brides house, the bride and groom going to the church, the ceremony, a photo shoot and the drive to the reception. I'll let you see the pictures and figure out how the day progressed..what you probably can't tell from looking at the pictures is that the bride was 6 months pregnant.
Aslamualaikum Sir ..
Resizing the photos individually takes a very long time. You can download Easy Thumbnails from the net and resize all of your photos in one go according to the size you choose.
There is another option. You can upload all of your photos to your facebook account and then link them from FB to PakWheels posts. It is very easy and much faster than attachment from the PakWheels server. You can display the photo on FB, right click on Copy Image location and then paste it in the PakWheels message window after clicking the image icon.
I hope it helps ..
Kinda childish to compare VW with Corolla.
Beautiful Bug
Thanx Reezvaan. Actually it was just me with my El cheapo point and shoot camera. The sun was a bit too intense so the truck art appears a little hazy but while the bride and groom were having their photoshoot I thought I'll shoot a few myself. It was a beautiful location and what you see in the background is one of the largest fresh water lakes in the world - Lake Ontario.
I have yet to get a moving shot of Billo but first I need to find someone I can trust to drive her and then I have to find someone to drive another car while I take pictures.
Does Wall Street Journal count?
that would be in 2010 so a while to go. Anyway we are almost close to the end of 2008.
At times I'll have to pause and bring you the 2011 events as they happen..
@nmshaikhHey,It was nice to meet you. We could not spend more time together. I will try to come to Toronto again some time soon to see the car and drive it for a bit Thank you very much to take out time from your schedule and coming all the way ...
