Still remember the traffic jam due to the construction of the flyover, right out side the the airport. Talking about the road which takes out from airport.

Hope it is completed now.. talking about last year.

True that, and the jams are especially torturous during peak hours, but that's all set to change when the new elevated expressway (built specifically for the new airport terminal) opens up at the end of this year/early next year.

Yeah.. there was a real need of some expressway.. Basically all over mumbai there should be a expressway.. lots of traffic jams from 12-2 pm.

No problem till starting of the next year but be sure to complete it before the mid-summer of next year, My next visit.. (I.A)

That whole area is pretty darn crowded. Here are some recent pics of the under construction terminal 2 expressway...

Some great work has being done.

But why.. The recent internal renovations extremely changed the looks of the arrival terminal. (Ground floor.). So why new..? Shortage of space..?

Everything you've used so far, including the refurbished arrivals concourse is all temporary. The airport operators will tear the whole thing down after the new terminal opens.

So why new..? Shortage of space..?

Yes. The current terminals handle over 31 million passengers per year, and have far outlived their intended capacity. The new one will be able to handle about 44 million passengers per year, I believe.

It looks like Palais Royale's been topped out. I am told the 'scraper has an atrium over 200m in height, of which I have no photos. Sorry mate. FYI duplex apartments in that building cost about INR 66 crore.
