How well is Phaeton selling?

Terribly. Such a well engineered automobile deserves to sell in higher numbers, but as you've said, the high price tag on a VW drives potential customers to the more "prestigious" German brands.

JETTA TDI price? is it selling well against Corolla or Chevy Cruze?

The Jetta Tdi Highline costs about INR 20 lakhs here. From June '13 - November '13, Chevy sold about 900 units of the Cruze Vs approx 2000 Corollas by Toyota, and about 800 Jettas by VW.

Both in urban and rural India, imported pick ups are few and far between. In the countryside, Mahindra (bolero/maxx) and TATA pick ups rule the roost.
